Price: This is what kills the GS-D3s in this comparison. Being some 60-70 bucks more than the NT05s, any slight edge it has in performance is killed by the bang for the buck factor, being roughly 40% more expensive than the NT05s.

To sum it all up, the NT05 will be the first tire I've purchased more than once.
I don't know, that comparison seems pretty good for the GS-D3. 40% higher cost gets you a tire with better performance that lasts 60% longer. The only advantage I'm seeing on the NT05 there is that it's not such a big outlay all at once.

Still, I don't think you would go wrong with either tire, and I've read the GS-D3 tends to degrade with age, so if you don't drive them enough to wear them out in a year or two, they may not be worth it.

The 295/35R18 would be a great size for your Camaro. Here's a link to our tire size calculator. It will help you estimate the change in size.

I should have noted that those NT05s with 10k miles are still on the car racking up miles.

How is the Noise with the NT-O5's compared to the other tires?

This was touched on earlier but I want to clarify. My car should have around 430 at the tires. What is the closest I can get to a D/R but still be able to corner hard? The car is not a daily driver.

Thanks.

If you want handling, I'd say NT05. If you want a drag radial, NT05R.
Which is more important, handling or drag launches?

It will only see the track two or three times so more for handling. I know I can't have it both ways.

Sounds like the NT05 would be your best choice, then. With the shorter tread life of the NT05R, you might only use them at the track once or twice during the life of the tire.

Hey:

No, not narrow like the 555s. Nt05 are about like the Firestone/Goodyear size, Not As big as A BFG KDW, but closer than other Nitto's. The Nt05R was little wider than the regular Nt05 tire, but the Nt05Rs they had on hand only was in 285/40 18, about 27" tall/11.5" wide or 315/40 18, about 28" tall/12.5" wide, when I was looking at them, while I was picking up My Nittos, (I had a tape measure with me, so not an exact size when mounted). From My driving experience, the Nt05s are a very good Tire!

Just some info for you:

My Nt05s were mounted on 4, 18x11" wheels, 285/35 just under 26"tall/11.5" wide for the fronts and 295/35 rears just over 26" tall/11.5" wide, I ran 15mm spacers, 65mm offset all 4

My 555s are mounted on 4, 18x10.5" wheels 285/35 front, 26"tall/11.5" wide, 285/40 rear, about 27"tall/11.5" wide, No spacers, 56mm offset frt, 58mm rear.

The car is currently on 20" frt & rear, whls and tires. but thats a whole other story.

Also OP just pick up a extra set of rear wheels when you can swing it and put some stickies on the back for track days, that way you can have fun both times.

Dub

So do they actually make a NT05 285/35/18? I just ordered a set of NT05's with rims. I called DTD and they said NT05's did not come in 285/18, the listing in this post looks like they do. The 275's look a little small on 9.5's. I already put 200 miles on the tires so it is what it is now. Thanks.
