P295/50R16 tire fits a rim that is 8.0 - 10.0 inches according to http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/tires.html and any other tire store that I have talked to.

I have the same rim and I plan on putting 295/45 R16 on my 16X8 rims.

I don't know if the trade-off will be worth it Jonas. I mean, yea, less rotational mass but you are going from a 315 to a 255. I hear the TTM's are pretty light as well. I'd save your money.

Also, a 295 on a 8 inch wheel??

I think it's this way:

8": 235/245/255
9": 265/275/285

295's would be perfect on a 9.5" wheel.

295/50 R16's fit fine on a 16x8" rim, Their rated for an 8" -10" rim according to MT's website. Besides the more sidewall the better for drag racing right.

When doing the 1/4 mile...

Is it better to have a tire with a bigger contact patch (295 tire) or to have a tire with a smaller contact patch (255 tire)?

I run a 255/50 MT DR and it fits a 8 inch wheel fine it actually doesn't look any bigger than my street tires, a 275 or 295 should be fine.

Bigger the better. The wider the more tire to catch traction, capeshe?

Heres your link. My buddy is running the 275's in a 17 and loves them.
Grab the 275 in a 16" and you'll be happy.

Are you running a 10.5" wide 16" rim?

A 275/50 or 295/50 will fit on a 16x8 rim? that is crazy... You are running a 26x10.5x16.. So i guess it will work

According to the website.. A 275 will not fit on an 8" wide wheel

[See sig] Lol I'm an auto with 3.73 gears. The 295/50r16's are a 27.6" tire and hook better for me than the MT 255/50r16's did... Only draw back is ABS INOP/TCS off lights on...

If I were to change gear ratio's again with this tire i would go with a 3.90 gear.

Yeah i do not like to have any lights on, on my dash.. I would prolly stick with the 255/50 combo then
