Default C5 WHEELS 18x10.5" for fronts

These wheels are made to fit 93-02 without spacers if you run 17x9.5/18x10.5 set-up and use the mfgrs suggested tire sizes. If you run the 18x10.5 in the front you will need a spacer because 18x10.5s were intended to be used as rears only. If you run the 19" in the rear you will need a spacer.
How thick of a spacer is needed to run the 18x10.5" C5 wheels on the fronts? Do you have a source for the spacer and is there any disadvantages to using a spacer? Do they stick past the fender?

How is it that you had these issue with the front rubbing and some don't? Where on the spindle did it rub?

Then, I had to run a tiny spacer up front, to keep the 10.5's from rubbing the brake spindles. I actually ended up trading the wheels for some Ruff Racing 278's today. I just loved the way that the Ruffs looked on my car, and I had been wanting a set for a long time. Plus, they had brand new tires on all 4 corners, whereas my 335's were about done for, and I was dreading the $550 to replace them. I'll run the Ruffs for a little while, and end up getting another set of OEWheels rims again next year though. Most likely some polished/chrome deep dish C6 Z06's.

On a side note, the machined face DD C5's look amazing on my buddy's pewter 2000 SS on Eibach Sportlines though. I think they look way better on his car than they did on mine. I'll try and get some pics of it sometime soon to throw up on here. Took a lot less modifying to get the 335's to fit on his car than mine, and he's even lowered with stock LCA's and stock PHB. We just had to hammer the inner fender, no spacers and no rolling of the outter fender.

no, your wrong. It depends on the wheel, so my question hasn't been answered.

to many people say it fits and to may say it doesn't and they need the spacer. We need to figure out what causes this?

Can Scott from OE wheels shed some light on this subject?

Do your C5 wheels with (black vents) 18 x 10.5 fit on the front of 98-02 F-bodys without spacers? Some say yes and some say no.

If not, what is the reason for the spacer?

from our understanding a lot of that has to do with each individual car. Its like you said some fit and some do not, and that is because of certain cars being lowered and other mods done to them. we do not guarantee fitment on the front with the 10.5's but a lot of people are putting them on. I know this answer is kinda vague but we have not recieved a real good answer either.

First off i want to thank OE Wheels for putting my car on their site showing off the black/polished C5DD!!! i dont know how long its been up there, i just noticed it today

To answer your question now. I have now installed 4 sets of the DD 10.5's front and rear on Fbody's. And have worked on plenty other's with them already on there

No matter how much you are lowered or how much your car is a 4X4 they wheel does not hit the spindle BUT it is ridiculously close. i would say around .025" yes .025...... SO when you are taking hard turns or anything and your wheel bearing flexes a little bit, IT will hit and it did even on my car. I have installed 3/16" spacers on most of these cars and my car has a 1/4" spacer to put them COMPLETELY flush with the fender. you can use stock studs but you need to get some extended shank acorn lugs and they fit perfect.

No matter what other people say if they clear, they obviously just think that because they dont hit but are close they are ok. but they will rub.

Just to clarify, if you want to run 315's on the back 10.5's you are most likely going to want to use a spacer anyways because you have to beat the inner fender a pretty good amount anyways. i run a 3/16" spacer on the rear and they still catch when the car is in the air. Some smaller 315's as in Nitto's and Michelin's might be better but my Hankook RS2's run bigger and they wouldnt of even cleared unless i put the car on the ground with a jack to get past the bumpstop without the spacer's. let me know if you have any more questions on what tire's you are using...i have installed all kinds of brands and sizes.
