i'm new, have a old car, so be easy... have a 80 camaro with a LS2 + 6 speed going with a 18x10 back & 18x8 front do not know a thing about tire size can someone help THANKS STEVE

the widest you can put up front is 245, and in the back is 305, but a 295 would also work, what size tires does it have now?

Will a +35 offset work and look good on both the front, and the rear wheels of a 04 gto?
the wheels sizes are 18 x 8.5 with +35 offset

another question is will spacers be recomended? if so what brand if any are better to use for this application...

Had a 29 x 10.5 slick on a 10" wheel (stock suspension) ,but going back on the street. would that be a 295/ 45,35,55 ???? THANKS STEVE

245/40 up front 295/35 in the rear or 305/35 in the rear

both the 295 and 305 will make your speedo off just so you know, and anything else will be too narrow or too wide

how tall is the 295 & 305?? that 29" slick made the car a little to tall and I'm putting it on the ground. What would a 28" tall tire be called THANKS STEVE

its 26.4 and 26.1 where as stock is 25.7"
hypertech programmers have settings to adjust the speedo based on tire size

it should answer any questions, its easy to use and has nice images as well


otherwise the formula is take the tire width, such as 305 divide by 25.4, then by the side wall profile, such as 35%(.35), then multiply this number by 2 and add your wheel size, such as 18 inches, this will be the height of the tire

also its best to maintain the stock height of the tire profile if you have ABS

ok im readin this stuff and the more i read the more confused i get.
i want to run a 17 x 9 in front and a 17 x 11 in the back with 315 tires in the rear and maybe 245 or 255 in front. i doubt ill have any rubbing problems in the front. but can i run those on the rear without the BFH mod? and if so what kind of bacspacing do i need on them? 56mm?
btw: i have a 2000 camaro z28

Okay, I've found this PERFECT thread about the tires and it's just what I was looking for, grazie

I've figured out that the 275/40r17 is what I'll go with on the back for my drags, with the 9" because I have a '05 GTO and my concern, like all, is the rub. I'm getting Koni's, Eibach's, and drag bags. I'll roll the fenders too. My question now to you guys is what should I run in the front? I run 245/40r18's with no issues. Want to have a sep. street set and my drag set... Recommendations??

Fronts the 17" x 9" wide wheel with an offset anywhere between 38 mm to 56 mm offsets. All depends on the look you want. 38 pushes the wheel to the furthest edge of teh wheel well lip and 56 tucks is a bit, matching OEM SS wheels. I recommend a 275/40ZR17 tire though. Really shouldn't be any rubbing of concern, my 38 mm offset 9.5"'s rubb ever so slightly on a full lock turn, on the plastic wheel well liner.

Rear 17" x 11". Offset between 45 mm ot 50 mm works best. Rubbing really will be dicated on the tire choice. Manufacture 315's vary so greatly in tread width it isn't funny. Depending on if you are lowered affects any need to BFH or rolling. But have that planned. That is a BIG tire.

can you please show me where this rubbing would occur on a picture? and cpuld you recomend a 315 tire that wouldnt have any problems rubbing?

Front: This is the only area where the tire does rub.



Rear: Narrow 315's are the Nittos and Sumitomos

I have never had any rubbing running 275s in the front .... the rear is a different story with 315s ... some are wider than others ... and there is some variance between cars too they are all not exactly the same....don't be shy just buy a BFH and adjust accordingly... a grinder on the bump stop or remove the bump stop ... an adjustable panhard rod is helpful too...

i plan on the panhard bar, so thats not a problem at all. i just dont get this very much, maybe im over analyzing it. the picture is showing a plastic part thats getting rubbed, but how would a BFH fix the plastic? are you guys talking about using a bfh on a pinted part of the body?! how wide would you say the sumitomos are? i know MT DR 275 are 11s how would they compare to that? BTW thanks everyone for being patient and for the knowledge!
