BTW thanks everyone for being patient and for the knowledge!
The BFH mod is for the inner rear tire area. The outer rear fender lip can be rolled.

Rolled is when the lip is folded up against the fender (like a hem on pants, rather than sticking in a 90 or so degrees) using a roller tool bolted up to the axle. There are a couple of guys on here that rent theirs out. I still haven't gotten around to doing it, so I don't have much more info on it.

BFH mod, is when you get the Big Fn Hammer and bang away at the inner wall (usually where there are tire / rub marks). I haven't done this yet either, but plan to.

Default Just Purchased

I just purchased wheels with these sizes and offests... 17x9.5 +54mm
18x10.5 +58 mm I was curious what size tires to run with no BFH... I have read this complete post and I am still lost. It is on a 99 TA with stock height and suspension. I am sorry for asking after all these posts but I just wanna be extra sure... I have had bed experiences buying the wrong tires and wheels and using the BFH and just don't wanna apply that here.

If you are going to run 315s in the rear you will end up using a big ****** hammer ... don't be shy purchase or borrow a big ****** hammer and have at it ... or rub your tires on the inner wheel wells ... if you are going to run 315s out back you might as well rent/borrow a fender roller to keep from cutting your tires ... the only way you wont is to drive like your grandma ... just a FYI sumotomo tires are crap do not waste you money on them ... they do not hook and they wear out quickly too ... with tires you get exactly what you pay for...

I was going to order some tires from tire rack, I have 18 x 10.5 in the back. I was looking at the 295's.... whats the difference in 295/30zr18 and 295/35zr18? I dont want to order the wrong ones and the hell if I listen to the guys at discount tire again, they had me buy 275/35zr18's and they look funny on that rim.....

Front 275/40ZR17 . . . Rear a 295/35ZR18. The 58 mm offset is a little tucked in, so a very minor amout of BFH might be needed, or run a 1/4" spacer.

well guys i bought oem vette wheels not thinking about the off set and i was a little embarrased when i tried to get them mounted and it was a no go...the guy said just to grab a 1/4 spacer but by this info that wont be enough. stock oe offset is 65mm i believe so i need a 3/8 spacer or a 1in wheel adapter, im leading towards the 1in wheel adapter because it seems safer? does this sound correct? i pmed xsta too but im in a hurry because i need to order the parts and get the rear wheels on...

No need to PM me . . . I read this post . . . I created it . . .

The only way to get it to fit is with a spacer or adpater. As long as you buy a QUALITY wheel adapter, of 3/4" to 1" thickness you'll be fine. I'd highly recommend looking for a hub and wheel centric adapter. H&R and Eibach make some nice ones.

Default DR's for a 2005 GTO (getting conflicting opinions as usual)

Now I'm sure I posted this somewhere (don't know which forum, sorry ) but I originally thought I could go with a 17" rim on the back with the widths being either 9.0 - 9.5. Was hoping to get a 275/40 and be safe with that with no rub. I know the offsets and was going to get the fenders rolled anyway.

For the front. Original plan was the 17 x 8.0 or 8.5 and run a 255/40?

Please oh tire gods, help me out here. I know a 15" rim is ideal for racing, but I don't think my car can handle?? Do you pros know if that could handle? The offsets are listed somewhere here and I want to say in the 40 ranges...

Want to get M/T ET street or ET street radials

what do you mean by hub? sorry if i sound retarded im thinking they are the same thing, ive already been looking at several wheel centric adapters but havent seen anything mentioning a hub, i was also looking into doing the ARP 2.5in bolt mod then just using a spacer, ive already made one mistake and dont want the wheel to hang outside the well to the point it will hit with bumps, i want to make sure i do things safe and right thanks for the help this thread is a life saver, also the guy just reccommended i put on 1/4in spacers and hook the wheel up

Front 17" x 8" or 8.5" witha 245/45ZR17 pertty must absolutely no room for a wider tire than stock.

Rear. a 17" x 9" CAN fit. Just need the right offset, as well as a 275/40ZR17.

The "hub" is the center round "button" at the center of the rear axle and the front beaing assembly . . . it sticks "through" the rotor and aligns both the rotor and the wheel.

Default Wheels and tires

I have a 2002 SS and have been reading the forums on here. Xsta Z 28, you did a great job with the offset breakdown. Just to get the final from the master, I was looking at Complete Custom Wheel for my next set of rims. Wanted to get 18x9 on the front and 18x10.5 on the back. I would need to have the front offset at 38mm and the back at 38mm as well? Tires are Nitto NT555 265/35ZR18 93w (front) and 285/35ZR19 (back). See any problems there or am I good to go with clearance?

The wheels and the offsets are fine. I run 38 mm offset 9.5's front and 10.5's rear.

Up front with the 9" the 38 mm offest will give you a touch more room for turning and should avoid the tire rubbing the black wheel well liner. As for a tire the 265/35ZR18 IMHO is too narrow in width which lowers the sidew all profile . . . I would HIGHLY recommend a 275/35ZR18 tire. It will fit the wheel perfectly.

Out back the 10.5" with a 38 mm offset, from experience is VERY aggressive, I would almost recommend a ~ 42 mm offset which would move the wheel and tire in just a touch, and possibly avoid the samll amount of quarter panel rolling I had to do. Tire . . . again I highly recommend a 295/35ZR18 the 285 IMHO will be too narrow looking on a 10.5" wheel.

i copied and pasted this from the OP... i have the Z06 wheels

Z06 Corvette Replicas:

17"x9.5" +50 to +56 mm no problems. 275/40R17.

18"x9.5" +50 to +56 mm 275/35R18 or 285/35R18.

So if i ordered some 285's for my rear i should be fine right? maybe a lil hammer to get a lil more clearance

Should be fine. You shouldn't even need to do any wheel well mods.
