Default Drag rims/tires

Should I bother balancing them?

I always have mine balanced.

Why not? It's cheap.

Just keep the weights on the inside

A shaky wheel might slow you down

The front runners I have right now aren't balanced and don't wobble a bit. The backs did wobble and I had balanced.

Yeah.. another thought... The last 2 sets of ET Streets I've got had a "heavy" spot in them. One was nearly 16 oz That would have made a shake for sure

Yep, last ET streets I had needed 12oz to balance out one of the rears. I even switched that tire to the other wheel after marking where the bad spot was and it was exactly the same on the other wheel so it was definately the tire.

Let me tell you getting 12oz of weight on a 15x8 5.5bs rodlight with no spacers and ground calipers was a feat. I edned up using pound ons and stock ons. Problem is when the tires would slip a little on the rims the pound ons would fall off. It shook horribly with no weights at at 110+

Skinnys seldom need any weight if the wheels arent bent..

I hear ya. We actually took the tire off the rim and spun just it to make sure I didn't bend it (Welds). Rim was fine.. guess the MT rubber layer got a little happy on one spot

If I would have bought them new I would have sent them back, but I bought them used and of course the previous owner said my rims must be messed up and they took no weight to balance them..

The vibration at the track wasnt so bad, it was the driving 70mph and watching the pass seat vibrate 4" to the left and right that was kinda scary "D

you can cut the weight at the metal clip and put them back to back - each on one side of the screw. The best way is to use tape weights on the inside, most people use the 'inside only' setting on the spin balancer or just use a bubble balancer. Problem is with the LS1s is that when you have a 15x8" weld on the back you cant really fit tape weights anywhere. Kind of a pita
