Clearance/fitment question
Clearance/fitment question I'm looking at a set of CCW classics a guy was using on his '88 vette. All the places I've searched shows the hub sizes to be the same (70.3) as my '00 Z28. Now my issue is with the backspacing. Two wheels have a 7 1/8" and two have 7 7/8", all the wheels are 11" wide. Which pair is better for rears? I have stock sized brakes with a adj panhard and eibach prokit with no fender rolling. I was planning on the smaller backspacing for the frontsand use the other as rears but I'm not sure if it would work up front.
i believe when you order a set of 17x9.5 and17x11's the off sets are 50mm front 56mm rear. dont know the standard to metric conversions off the top of my head. Measure the off sets in metric and the numbers should be similar.
Just for reference, I'm running a 17x9.5" rim, with 7 1/8" backspacing all around. From what I've seen, and I could be wrong, but it seems that a 10" rim is about the max for the front.
However, don't give up!! If the price is good enough on the wheels, you could always buy them, and send them back to CCW, and have the shells changed to give you the offset that you need. As far as I know, the expensive part of the wheel is the center....

I like your thinking! That's what I was tossing around in my head all along. I'm getting a insane deal on them, about $280/wheel. I'd almost be dumb to pass it up.

well the totals are as follows:
front- 7 1/8" BS, 10 1/8" useable width, 1/2" taken off each side for tire bead.
rear- 7 7/8" BS, 10 1/8" useable width, 1/2" taken off each side for tire bead.
those numbers calculate to front: ~38-39mm rear: ~58mm
it seems the front should fit okay, but i'm not positive on the rear.
