The NT05's hold my car.
Not like my car is anything special. But my last set of GS-D3's were very old and I was just sliding everywhere ANYTIME I got ON it under 55-60mph. No track times yet and STILL no dyno tune since ESP's dyno is down.
Anyway. Had it out today for while at about 65-70* out. So the pavement was pretty warm. I did a soft-ish drag launch from a light (Not in a busy area. Out in the back roads) Slipped a little from the launch and rolled into WOT, not full power shift to second but a hard shift... WOT to 4th when I laid off at about 90. It held...
I gotta get new dyno numbers soon though, so my numbers in sig may be a little low due to the altitude when it was tuned.

As far as the NT05's, they are the regular version, not the drag version. I don't think they make the NT05r's in this size. The straight line traction so far seems great! I've only had this car out on the NT05's twice so far, and there is a definite difference. It doesn't get so damn loose in first or second now, unless I want it to. If I slip the clutch out a little quick, they'll spin. Of course.
I had the GS-D3's on a stock-ish car with just full exhaust, suspension, intake, lid and a tune. so basically a bolt-on car. Don't really remember how they gripped because the roads out west were pretty slick as it was and it was going on five years ago. The old tires were VERY dry and rock hard! I'm NOT kidding! They would brake loose without even trying in first through third. I've broken them loose from a 60 roll before too, out west, on a third gear stab messing with a ragged out LT1 TA. IMO, the GS-D3's are great for a bolt on car, or under 4000rw. If you're over 400rw, you're going to need a little more 'stick.' and this car isn't a DD, so I only drive in the rain if I really get stuck. I won't take the car out if I know there is rain in the forecast.
Haven't tried a full WOT power shift yet. And yeah, still the stock geared 3.42 10b. Tax money should net me some 3.90's, tho.. I want a better rear, but the budget is tight. I'm not a 100% track guy, this is a street car that sees the track occasionally. Or until I can find a suspension setup that will allow a tall-ish drag radial and will fit my street wheels (in sig.) I need to get re-tuned here soon. Last tune was at about 3800ft and I'm at about 750 ft now.. 0_o Should net me a little more power and I don't think it was tuned right to begin with.

Technically the NT05 is a high-grip street tire (like the GS-D3) and is not an R compound that needs to be hot to stick properly. The closest comparison to the NT05 is the Falken Azenis RT-615, but the NT05 seems to perform better.... Enjoy yours! I have been enjoying mine.

Oh yeah.. My tire size is 285/35 18". I'm not sure how good a 35 sidewall will hook to begin with, and I'm not expecting 315/45 performance out of these either. But they are surprising me.
I also plan on keeping these on the car for a little over a year. We'll see.. I don't do standing burnouts very often, if at all unless I'm at the track. And I don't go to the track often anyway.

I have also been very happy with my NT05s. Off the line they are certainly not DRs but better than any street tire I've had (Eagle GS, BFG KDW, GS-D3). I could chirp the GS-D3s going into 4th but am not sure if I could chirp 3rd with these. Wet weather is good too. I've done an HPDE in the rain and they were great. They are not happy in cold (under 35 degrees) wet weather though. I've also had them on a dry road coarse and like advertised they are better than "street" tires but not R compound. The short story is that I will be buying them again.
