Hoosier Drag slick D06 prematurely worn?
I have a question:
I am running Hoosier Slicks on my 6 speed Camaro
26 x 10 x 15..
After 14-15 runs my slick is already completely finished!!!
Now my question is this.. I have ran this exact same slick in the past.. and I have probably 70-80+ passes on them until they completely wore out.. I also drove on the street with them for extended periods of time, burned out on the streets at times, and still have had them from 3 1/2 years... This new slick I only had for 3 1/2 weeks!!! and now theyre completely finished!!
Is this a bad batch of slicks, a defective slick or what?
Now before anyone says anything, i would also like to mention that I was racing this weekend and I wonder if I burned out the slicks too much, because the weather was already hot.. The only thing is , as I mentioned on my old slicks with 70-80 or more passes I used to do the same length burnouts.. BUT It was hot this weekend and i wonder if the heat wore it much faster... could this be a possibility? Also This slick felt different than my last one, even though it was the same part # slick... Whenever I burnout, i would smoke my tires until a few seconds when the tire would get sticky and get enough traction and I would feel it and let off.. This time, I never felt that with my slick.. have they changed the compound?
Im really confused as to, why they wore prematurely, if I overheated them that is why they wore out so fast and didnt grip well? why I never got good traction with them, etc....
Any help I would appreciate.. thanks

I wonder if I should contact Hoosier about this, or is this normal??

This is teh slick I ordered..
I had real good luck with it in the past...
Now I had the exact opposite..
Also I would like to mention on the first 2-3 passes, they wouldnt hook at all because they were still not sticky, until I finally wore em in....
So I only got 12 real passes on these slicks until they totally wore..
I also ran them in between 12-15psi only..

I was going to suggest you post in drag racing tech for a better chance of a responce but I see you did.I will say sure I would contact Hoosier. It can't hurt and at least if there was a change in compound or something they can tell you. With the price of slicks that sucks for sure.

I dont know the drag slicks, but the hoosier A6 autox tire has a very short number of heat cycles. You said you street drove the others, if they were heat cycled out, they would have lasted longer , at the expense of grip.
The A6 tire is at its peak for about 6 months after its 1st heat cycle, then it drops off. I have a set of old ones, 2005. they wear like iron, but the grip is way off a fresh set
