Default Polished wheels love/hate relationship

Love these things when they are clean but after they get wet a few times they look like ***. I have the wheels a part right now for a good buffing. I used tripoli with a spiral sewn buff and then finishing it with simichrome on a loose buff. Two done two more to go which I hope to finish tomorrow after work. Now I need to find something to protect them.

Looks like fun..but they do look damn good when clean. Just paint your car black and you would have another full time job

Have you thought about using Rejex or Zoopseal to help protect them? I am using Rejex on my Street Lites and it seems to work pretty good.

I bought everything from Eastwood. I'm tired of polishing these things. I sent off the centers to get a brushed finish so that is one less thing to have to polish. I wanted to get the lips chromed but i was getting quoted 150-250 per lip so forget that idea.

What color are you having them anodized? I love my CCWs on my Cobra with the Titanium Brushing, makes cleaning simple other than the lip. But my car really never gets wet so I just polish them every once in a while.

223hawk- Yeah I sent them back to CCW. It's only 100 bux for all 4 centers.

camaro396-I'm just getting them clear anodized. I really like the way the brushed finish looks.

A little afraid of "miracle products" like Zoopseal, always wondered how it aged. For a quick touch-up after washing I use Never-Dull. It's a wading cloth, has the polish built right in. Comes in a tin (used to be blue/white, but I think Eagle-One bought them out and the tins are now black.), you tear off a hunk and wipe the wheel down, removes any stains or water spots. Works good between major re-polish.

3 done 1 more to go I'll finish it tomorrow. It gets boring real quick.

jjordan-I actually removed all water spots and stains with Never Dull before I started with the buffs.

Hey :

How about a clear powder coat? They last quite awhile when done right.

Does your car sit outside a lot or what? Those lips were pretty bad! Good work cleaning them up though!

Car is always outside rain or shine and it's pretty much the daily driver.

Just be glad you don't have black rims... They look amazing for a few days after a wash, but then they go right back to being dull as hell and dirty. When I had the stock chrome 16s, seems as if they stayed very shiny and bright for weeks after I washed them.
