Default Rebirth of my 02 SOM SS on 20"s !!!!!

Long story short I picked this SS up recently and it just screamed 'save me'. I worked out the usual plan of mods and it turned up quite well. Still need to play with ride height as I was late and had to come into work but the ride is great but the new tires are hella greasy atm. Enjoy the Pics !!!

Some Before and After:

As she was when I bought her.. Just cleaned up and washed.

Needed clean up

Headlights hazed up. Cali Sun??

Wheels weren't bad. Cleaned em up and sold em!

Slapped on the Winters, and refused to wash the car until I could give her a makeover she deserved. My neighbors commented how my old Z was way nicer LOL !!

Could rally at this ride height.. winter tires... yes this is my dd and winter car !

Before Clean up and Ground control Coil over installation:

Quick pic after.. painted the brakes nothing major.

Sexy HREs I bought waiting to go on:

I know people are cringing at the word TWENTY lol

Nice and dirty.. covered the wheels because I already washed em and the 2nd coat of caliper paint was sort of fresh..

Sucks living in a new develoment

QUick pic of the wheel/brakes touched up inside:

Difference in headlights

After with new corners too:

In all her glory.. few pics today at work... will have lots more especially after I set the ride height. Front is a tad low I will probably do the heater hose mod on the rear to bring it down.

Needed more than a decent wash trust me. While I was doing the lights I had done zaino fusion, and then a coat of z5. When I get time I will clay it and start from scratch it just needed something desperately.

I didnt do the 'uper mount mod'. I was too concerned about not being able to cut the mount and the top of the shock with the tools i had available.

Looks sick! How does it ride? Too bad you couldn't get more rubber on there though it looks like your riding on the rim!

I'm usually not a fan of anything bigger than 18's on F-body's but you pulled it off with those wheels and ride height.

I did use plasticx and zaino on the new headlights. I haven't decided to sell the old ones or try bringing them back to life myself. At the same time take off the lenses and maybe buy new ones off ebay (buy halos and just use the lenses) and do the whistler mod. Most likely a titanium color inside maybe som.

I agree they are c5 z06. When I had my white z28 I saw lots of camaros on the c5 z06 chromies and I loved it. the style grew on me. When these came up for sale I jumped on it like a fat kid on cake!

Forum members old lights. POlished em up and they did have a broken tab on the front but otherwise worth it.

I was going for the biggest transformation with just the few mods I was doing. being dirty helped somewhat lol. I was just so embarassed driving it with winters on I figured I'll just leave it dirty till I can work on it.

To be Honest, it rides awesome. I know I'm not on the bumpstops on the front but probably close and I haven't botomed out hard yet. It was one of the reasons why I went with a #650/200 spring rate. The car is flat and cornering I'm not sure yet. drive yesterday was the first on the new tires and they were really greasy.

With the 20s I honestly dont think I would have wanted more meat. just cant do it without raising the car even more with a taller tire. There is still 3/4 of an inch of unused tread on either end anything more is a waste really. I do agree a little beef looks good but I was really just trying to keep the car low to the ground.

From Mississauga, just moved to Milton now !

I guess i should change the title to 20s on the rear. The wheels are actually 19/20 not 20 around. I'll tell you guys the main reason why I knew it wouldnt look bad. The wheels are the old 'STEP' lip design by HRE and not the 'reverse' lip that is more common. Personally it was a huge love affair for me with stepped lip rims back in the day even though I have reverse lip 19" iforged on my vette. WHen these rims came up for sale i KNEW i could pull it off just because of the step lip....

If you didnt know, he centre of a stepped lip is smaller than a reverse lip. So if these rims had a dish for a lip.. the centres would have been used for a 18" rim and a 19" rim. because these are stepped the step in the lip accounts for the other 1 whole inch and theyre used for a 19/20. that is why (at least to me) the wheels dont look as big as most 20s do.

going to raise the front 1/4 inch right now and start pushing the corners a bit to heat the tires up to get the new tire grease worn off. Then I have to find time to get all my other mods on... MGW shifter, AMp and sub / subthump stealth box, guage overlay,160 stat, 1.85 crane roller rockers w/ new comp 918s... and some more stuff...

When I first saw it with all the road salt.. I was kind of shocked.. But, she looks great after some good cleaning and waxing.. And the wheels look good.. I would just get some spacers in the front so they don't tuck in as far..
