Default BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT or Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport

Need a 295/35/18 rear tire for my new rims coming in. I'm looking for decent grip (400rwhp) but a fairly quiet ride. I seem to get alot of road noise currently. It isn't a daily driver so wet and tread life isn't a huge concern. Both these tires are available locally and the Bridgestones are only $18 more than the KDWs.

Let me know if any of you have experience with either or both of these.

Thanks!

My parents just got the RE760 Sports on their 540i, it's a nice, quiet ride that still seems to have plenty of grip....not that they push it very often. I wouldn't hesitate to put the tires on my car

I have had recent experience with both although the 760s were 275/35/18 and the bfgs 275/40/17. The 760s ANY DAY over the bfgs. the bgs were absolute crap compared to the 760s. The tread depth seemed deeper and squirmier when pushed hard. they (bfgs) really squeal at the limit too which some may like... I hated it. I like to slide the tail sometimes when I'm in the spirited mood at low speeds and the bfgs screamed and yelled for miles around

The 760 looks better on the sidewall and tread too.

vs

I was definitley more comfortable with the 760s because I had them for longer. I trusted them 100% though I ripped turns at insane speeds on on/off ramps and high speed curves (140+mph). great tire

Thanks for the info. The 2nd pic isn't showing up. And for the BFGs, you are talking about the KDW's right?

Those do not look like KDWs.

Also, where did you get the 18" ZR1s?

I have KDWs and like them, despite the loud road noise.

you are correct i double checked they were g force sports. Personally I would never buy any tire that had the word 'wet' anywhere associated with it. I drive fast in the dry. I commute in the wet.

My experience with the 760s was an amazing one for what it's worth.

Yeah that pic is a G-force sport. The KDWs 2s are a lot better. I love mine!

Yes. Not squealing or anything; they are just noisy in general.

I have the KDW II (New tread) in 295/35/18.

Hmm, sounds like the RE760s may be the way to go. While I like the tread pattern of the KDWs, the last time I bought tires for tread pattern were GSD3's and they were crap and hardly lasted 15k.

When you say "they were crap", are you basing that solely on longevity?

One would expect a set of ultra-high performance tires to wear out quickly due to the low treadware.

I felt that the factory Firestone Firehawks I had before handled better and had double the tread life of the GSD3's I ran.

I didnt have the BFGS for more than a month and a half. I sold the wheels as fast as I could lol. I did drive the car really hard though. They're not kdws but I can tell you one thing about ANY tire that is designed for good wet performance... The tread contact patch is ALWAYS less and the tread depth may be deeper as well leading to more noise. Both of those are done to help get the water out from under the tire reducing the chance of hydroplaning. Deeper tread depth also leads to squirmier road feel especially at the limit. That's why R compound or close tires usually have very very minimal depth when new.

I would do google searches and on tire rack looking at comparos of the tires. I could be wrong and the kdws blow away the 760s in comparisons... I was just adding my .02 of subjective opinion

Much appreciated. I'm leaning more and more toward the RE760s.

To be fair... here's a cleaned up pic of the BFGs. I like to exaggerate sometimes with my comparisons lol.

Considering the Firehawks were probably a 340 treadwear tire compared to a GS-D3 at a 220 treadwear, that is not really all that suprising. Handling can be subjective between people. I would expect the Firehawk to be tamer, and approach its limits more gradually.
