Default M/T ET Streets on the street?

Is anyone actually driving around on the Mickey Thompson ET Streets? Not as a daily driver but an ocasional around town or to the drag strip run. I'm asking cause its time for a new set of rear tires and currently I'm running the M/T drag radial 275/15 with a 6 speed and was thinking that the ET Streets would hook alot better, but I drive to the drag strip alot of times since its only 20 miles away or so. I'm not sure if I want to go back with the 275 or bump it to the 325 drag radial or go with the ET Street that is 26" tall instead of 28". Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Currently running 4:11 ratio so the 28" would drop it to around 3:81 or so. That may be good also to help the car hook and be able to leave at a higher rpm than 3500.

Again thanks for any help or suggestions and info on the street manners of the ET Streets.

A 26" or 28" would depend on your mods and how much power you're making. As for driving the DRs on the street, they'll be fine. Obviously they won't last long at all but you can drive them on the street. I used to ride around with my BFG DRs spraying in the rain and driving them while it's icing and I had no problems.

I am currently driving the 275/15 M/T drag radials on the street with no problems, my question is how do the ET Streets drive on the street? I want to be able to run some of the 30 mile cruises and race so I just wonder how the ET Streets drive for 30 miles?

The car has 415 rwhp and 395 ft lbs torque. Suspension wise it has a 12 bolt 411 gears and spohn torque arm with front sway bar delete. Problem Im having is anything above 3500 it blows the 275's off (6 spd). I'm not really crazy about cutting up my car to get the DR 325's to fit since it is a low mileage car, therefore I'm looking at the ET street in the 26" tall tire.

Thanks

If it was my car I would go with the 275/60s(28") so you don't have to bang 5th in the 1/4th.

Oh, in that case unless you plan to add some nitrous soon get the 26s

I am running 295 50r 16 MT radials and the Gtech says 1.8s on the 60' on the Street!

I was only cutting a 1.7 at the track and the gtech said about the same so they work wonders on the street!

I only have about 2000 miles on mine and they are almost gone (9 passes at the strip and lots of street pounding) If i did it again I would go with a toyo proxie for the street.

I run 28x12.50x15 et streets on my track wheels and drive 20 miles to the track. They're just fine, just not as stable as a radial at higher speeds.

I'm thinking about running the same tire you are the 28x12.5x15 MT ET Street instead of going back with the MT dr 275/50/15 that I'm currently using. Do you have any idea how it might affect my et or mph due to the tire change? I'm hoping to be able to leave at a higher rpm with the larger tire cause the 275's are blowing off launching at 3500 or above. The car is a 6 speed so launching at a higher rpm is not a problem. Some one else suggested above to stick with the 275 dr since the car was going through the 1/4 in 4th gear (around 6000). I'm hoping to get better et's and be able to leave harder out of the hole with the larger tires.

Thoughts please. I need to order tires soon.

Thanks

My buddy did at one point on bolt ons. Said they were horrid in the rain. As soon as it started to rain he would slow it WAY down and almost limp the sideways-machine home.

I've run ET Street radials(275/50/15) and skinnies(26/6/15) up front. I probably have 1200-1500 miles on the rears and 4-5 passes, not much left.. I drove about 80 miles 1 way to the track, I ran 80 on the highway with no issues. But I learned real quick, skinnies don't turn like the 285/35/18's... lol

I ran them 24/7 for months no matter the weather. They are not nearly as stable as a rain tire. I had 275/40/17's and 295/45/17's. The newer tread design was much better in the rain but still not street tire good. As long as you remembered they were on there and slowed down in the rain/ didn't hit large puddles of water they were fine. I didn't say they were safe, if I had a kid they wouldn't ride in the car with me with those tires in any type of drizzle. I only had a problem once with sensible driving and they had over 5000 miles on them completely slick with cords showing and the rear kept locking unlocking while on the brakes in a drizzle...I feel they did way more than they should have!

I did go for wide open throttle blast from 60mph or so one morning. There must have been alot of dew on the road/cold tires because throwing it into second hit the limiter instantly and took a lot!!! of steering input to keep it into two lanes and not bounce it off of mailboxes and close telephone poles. I rear tires slipped off the road on the right twice and the left once. This was my fault and I should have known better!

You'll ET much better with the bias ply tire b/c you'll be able to launch way harder and get that 60ft down. I come off the 2 step at 6500-7000rpm in mine.....

ET Street radials worked fine on short trips. Did a pretty much 50 mile trip to and from a racetrack here in Arizona on them. Nothing to complain about really, other than I was wasting tread for no real reason.
