Exclamation Removing Rivets?

I feel like I've seen it somewhere before on some Ruff wheels. If and how is it possible to remove fake rivets from cast wheels like Ruff 278s, HP Evo's, MRR GT's ect?

i havent ever seen a wheel with removable rivets except real 2 or 3 piece wheel i would say if they where fake ones that thry could be filled in but that would mean filling them with bondo or some sort of filler then repainted.

i have hp designs split 5's on my benz with the rivets and the chrome pealed off of one of the fake rivets and it was like brass color under the chrome and i was going to just get some black touch up paint(black wheels polished lip) and doing each one black but never got to do it.

could you grind em off and sand em down and either repaint em or polish em out? i mean thats what i think you could do but ive never had any wheels with em to know so i could be wrong

i dont see why you couldnt fill or sand/grind the fake ones and paint 'em. but real 2/3pc wheels aren't rivited together, they're assembled with nuts/bolts

Instead of going through all that trouble, why not just sell those wheels and buy a new or used set without the rivets???

^I dont have any wheels with rivets. There is just a few I had my eye on and I figured they probably could be removed easily on a cast wheel. Rivets honestly make me sick and I dont know why companies put them on their wheels for looks. The 3pc wheels are another story they have a purpose.

It's the same theory behind cheaper, cast 1-piece wheels in a similar design to the lightweight forged wheels.. Make them LOOK like the expensive wheels. 3-piece wheels are never cheap, and therefore, the rivets are supposed to give it that 3-piece look..

Ya I think the fake rivets make the cast wheels look stupid. As for grinding and sanding them off Id be going with a chrome wheel which I dont know how easy that would be.

I'm shocked that with all the people that use to ride around on Evo's and 278's no one ever tried removing the ugly rivets..

Back in my time with Big Time Wheel Co we put alot of those in that just twisted into a pilot hole. You could easily drill out a pilot in the head and then use an Easy -Out to twist them back out. Only thing is your left with a big ugly hole. We had just as many designs where the fake bolts/fasteners were machined into the face. Not much you can do about those.

Hmm those are sick. I wish he had some rear shots and explained how the rivets were removed. If they are just cheap plastic ones I'm guessing glued on?

Anyone still rockin Ruff 278s that could get me a close up of the rivets? Are they just around sitting on the face of the wheel or is their an indent where the rivets sit? If removed would it just look stupid?

ive got them and can get a picture later if i remember
i dont think they are indented into the rim. i believe that they are just sitting on the face of it but i want to say they screw in because there is a slot for an allen wrench

Really hmm. Screwed in could be easily removed as long as it didn't look strange with them missing as in a weird indent or something. If you could check it out thatd be great thanks.

Ya those are sweet. I just hate cast wheels with fake rivets. It always ruins the look for me. Now some Iforged, HRE's, CCW's with nuts/botls serve a purpose and lets be serious those 2 brands always look good.

My ADR's have little screws. They are allen head and screw in. I have one missing and it looks like ****. If you were to get a set and just take the screws out it would look like complete ***.
