Default Can you fit 315 tires on a 9" rim?

I saw a set of Firehawk rims with 315 Nitto NT555Rs mounted to them. Is this safe or even good for traction? Reason Im asking is SLPONLINE.COM has a killer deal on SS 10 Spoke rims and I was thinking of getting them but didnt want to be limited to a 275 tire. My stock motor blows threw my 245 nittos and with the new setup I dont see 275s having a much better chance.

The Nitto 315's will fit fine, they're a little smaller than other 315's. Their 275's are the same way. It will bulge a little bit, but not dangerously and it looks darn good. As for traction, it's debatable. A lot of 03 Cobra guys do it.

Technically NO. Manufactureer recommendation for a 315 is a 11" wheel.

Can it be done, yes, but it defeats the entire purpose of getting such a wide tire since the corners will be forced into an undesigned shape, and will flex funny.

A good reputable tire shop would never do it . . .

Most people who i know who run them, paid the tire guy $20 under the table to mount them..

But if you have ever seen the 315's on a 11" wheel they look like *** b/c the wheel lip actually sticks out past the tire. A custom 17X10 would look GREAT but they do fit on a 17x9 and I have pics on my webshots page. I think the do hook a little better too. It isn't a WHOLE lot but enough.
