The BFGs (which I run in 345) are some of the widest tires you can get. A 345 in a 17" will have even more sidewall to work with than my 18s do.

btw i did have the new style wider m&h 325/45/17s on 9" wheels and they fit perfect but i hated how they were so squishy feeling and had a bounce effect over wavy roads. if these toyo tires are anywhere close to the m&h in width i think it would be great.

can you yes, Would I ? Not by along shot. Do you like the bulge look? There will zero performance gain, Id say less cause now your running a heavier tire. Whats wrong with a 275/40/17 or 285/40/17

I do kinda like the bulge look as long as its not a danger to drive. This is actually for my dakota reg cab rt. it has the gsd3's all around. 285/40 in the back. the width is perfect but the diameter looks a little too small. in the front its fine. the stock wheels are 17x9 and there are no replicas made in 17x10 or 17x11.

the other tire i was considering for the back is the MT et-street radial 2 in 295/45/17. the diameter is good at 27.2" but ive seen pictures and it always looks like they run narrow for their size. im just going by pictures though so its hard to tell.

well i guess since i didnt get a response that its a dumb idea lol. i do see a lotta people putting 315/35 tires on 9" rims so i figure even though the 345 is an inch wider its got 2" more sidewall so its gotta be more flexible. i think i might just give it a shot and see how it works anyways. the tires are only $184 each so i guess i can always return them or re-sell them to someone with wider wheels if they dont fit on my 17x9s.

if your deadset on using those rims, why not get your rims widened a couple inches?

I have 335 Hoosier A6's mounted on 17x11's and they do have some bulge to them, I use them for autox and the only reason I have that wide is that they were free. Marking and measuring the contact patch vs the 315's I have mounted on my front 17x11's during the last autox and the effective patch on the ground is about the same, 12". If I were to put 345's on something it would be at the very minimum 12" so that I was actually getting use out of the extra width. Otherwise, you might as well run 315's on 11's IMO.

That being said, with 50mm offset on my race 17x11's, a 5/16" spacer and some BFH mods, the 335's clear fine for regular driving, but after an autox the tires still rub on the inside where 315's on the rear with no spacers did not.

I also run 345/30/18s on 18x11. They fit fine to me.
