Default 18" rims on a lowered car?

My 99 T/A is lowered about 1.4 inches from stock and im looking to buy new rims. I'm looking to replace the stock 16" inch rims with some 18's all the way around. The rims im looking at have a 30mm offset. Would I be able to run this setup or would I have clearance issues? I'm inspired by Qcon's car which appears to be lowered 1.25" running 18" rims with a +38 offset.https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...-trans-am.html All help appreciated

What width 30 mm offset is VERY aggressive . . . if they are 9" or wider they will not fit.

I am lowered about 1" all around, running 18" x 9.5" front and 18" x 10.5" rear. Both with a 38 mm offset. . . I did have to roll the rear quarter panel lip and do have some minor rubbing up front at full turn.

Not able to help and not trying to be a smart ***. Maybe try shooting him a PM? Sure he would be willing to help if he's around still. Nice inspiration BTW, that is one sick T/A. Good luck on your search.

18 in C5's all way around w/ no rubbing here...but its close. You can always mallet out the well to make room.

I'm running Simmons 18x9.5 in the front and 18x10.5 in the rear and have no problems at all with rubbing. I'm lowered about 1.5

Whoops I should have specified. The rims are 18X8.5 all the way around with 245/40r/18 tires. I feel the 18's themselves would be fine, just the offset, or lack of, that bothers me if it may rub the lip.

you'll probably be ok, ive got 18x10 with 295/35/18 on the rear and it rubbed occasionally. I just rented a fender roller and took care if it, havent had a problem since.

Scratch that idea then. But I do have another question

Front 18X8.5 +35 offset 235/45/18
Rear 18X9.5 +40 offset 265/40/18

How about this?

My old rims were 18x9.5 with a 35mm offset with 285/35/18. I had to cut the out fender lip a few mm. the tires rubbed slightly on hard cornering (didnt want to risk cracking the paint by rolling it) i think 30 MM offset is pushing it (not bad if you run a 265 or smaller or have a rim with less than 9" width) , since my 35mm was less than an inch to being flush with the fender.

I'd say:

Front 18X8.5 +35 offset 245/40/18
Rear 18X9.5 +40 offset 275/35/18

That cars rear looks pretty high though. almost stock. of course a 275 is gonna clear. i doubt it will clear if its lowered and taking hard turns.

The reason I ask about the 265/235 combo is I have a $250 off card from Mickey Thompson so I'm getting ET Street Radial II's for the rear and a 265/40 fits on the 18"X9.5 rims I want. and the 235/40 matches in diameter for the front. Also here's a few crappy cellphone pics of my dirty car in reference to a pop can. It seems like it's lowered more then 1.4" inches as the stock 16's seem to fill the wells pretty decently now that I look at it. Makes me wonder if the car is lowered even more. Anyway, thanks for everyones help so far. The middle close up is the can directly in the middle of the car and it barely slides under. I'm sure my tire pressure is a little low as well, but the tires seem to fill most of the well.

808z28 that car looks mean as hell!

Thanks for the compliment...Your car is definately lowered. stock hieght fbodies have at least a 2-3" front wheel/ fender gap. your car has same as mine. probably sportlines or equivalent. I think its lowered more than 1.4" drop. my car is lowered 1.75 fronts and 1.5 rears. 16s have more sidewall so the fender gap will be even smaller.

Here some profile wheel/fender gap pics. yours looks close to mine. your cas has to be lowered at least 1.5" +
