Default Need new tires

Looking for a new set of tires. Not nitto's but something with good tread life that really grips on the street. Also wanna keep road noise down. Anybody have any recommendations or personal experience with a nice set of tires. I'll be buying 275/40/17 all around. Thanks in advance

Treadlife and grip tend to be opposing forces. You need to decide how much of each you really want. If you want 20,000+ miles out of your tires you are looking at Peotenza RE-760, Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals, BFG KDW's, NT-555. 10-20K probably Goodyear GS-D3, Michelin PS2's, and you may get that much out of an NT-05. Under 10-12 K is where most of the drag radials and mac performance tires will be such as Ecsta XS, NT-555R/RII, NT-01, NT-05R, Proxes Torques, Proxes R1-R/RA-1/R-888. If you need a lot of miles out of your tires you will be up in the all season bracket. I am making some generalizations, as people have gotten more or less out of some tires, but it should be a decent guide.

Go with the Bridgestone RE760 Sport or the Firestone Wide Oval. Those should be the best wearing of the above lot.

Why not Nittos. I've been using 275/40/17 Nitto 555 Extremes (NOT the drag radials) up front for 10 years. I get 15,000-17,000 miles out of them each time. They are amazing in the rain and have a 280 or 300 tread wear number.

They're cheap too.

I get 20k on my Nitto NT-05's and i take long trips and hit the corners hard. you should be getting much more with those NT-555 Extreme's.

Well I have a set of Nexen 3000's on my ride and so far they have been holding up pretty good. $109.00 per tire .

I'm guessing around 17,000, maybe more.

But also change them WAY WAY before they get anywhere near bad. They have more useful tread when I change them.

I love my NT555's too! 17k miles...sounds pretty low! I have over 10k on mine now, and they still look new! I'm planning on getting 30-40k out of these.

'course I drive somewhat easy...I like curves, but no burnouts.

I drive my car pretty normal, just occassional fun. But yea, at about 17,000 I put new ones on. Again though, they aren't bald, they still have a decent amount of tread, I just like nice new tread with all the monsoon rain we have down here. So I guess I could run them for an easy 5,000 more.

I put Nitto 555 on the front of my car at 18,000 miles. I have close to 44,000 miles now on the same tires and the tread still looks to have at least 50% left not joking. They go for around $150 a tire as well which is pretty good. 275/40/17.
