Thanks! I was trying not to be an *** about it. You stated my thoughts quite clearly.

Yes Sumitomos are garbage...they are cheap so a lot of people give them a try and if in a numbers crunch its a way to put a tire on your car. My friend and I had similar experiences...12mo of use and 8-10K mi and the centers were really wore down on them while seemingly good tread left on the edges.

No apologies necessary. I've posted some **** that no one was looking for and hijacked pleanty of threads without meaning to.

Thanks for the details on the sumi's. I think I will go with the Nitto's again just not the DR's.

Thanks again guys!

Yeah, the 555r's are great street tire dr's and the 555's def last a long time. I used to have khumo esxta's up front and hated them. The 555's up front i have now have 15k and look like about 70% tread. Thats with taking every long curvy off/onramp i can hard. Good wet and dry traction

I have looked at some sumitumo's and kumho's and they look ok but I'm not crazy about them. I dont really care for the goodyears either. And I've had bad luck with Nitto's. I guess I'm just too picky. Right now I am running Hankooks but I cant find them in 315's. I looked through the 315 pics thread but not many people post what brand they run.

I'm not looking for a drag tire. I just want a good, directional, street tire.

Opinions?
I didn't read through the whole thread, but I was just wondering who is widening your wheels for you? Weldcraft?

Ive heard sumi's are ok, but never tried em personally. The 555s work for me, and last a while.

My car isnt lowered that i know of, and Im running a 1" adapter (lug centric), with uncut ARP 2.5" studs. They werent neccesary for the adapters, but I needed new studs anyway. With the 555Rs, i did very little hammering on the inner fenders, but once i switched to the regular 555s, i had to do a good bit more, they are an inch wider than the DRs. They also hold up decently to my stalled/geared auto on the street too.

Wheels america did the work. They are being shipped back today. It cost about 650.00 but that is because mine needed some polish and re-cleared.

I still have to get spacers. Do I need 2" spacers since I widened them 2" to the inside and will that require longer studs than what you are running?

Guys were also forgetting the Nitto NT05 (non DR)

They HANDLE like nobodies BIDNESS and the tread lasts a good while, not as long as a nitto 555. They also look sick imo

Straight line performance, and tread life I'd lean towards the Nitto 555
Autocross performance, better corner handling with good tread life I'll lean towards Nitto NT05

I am running Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-DRs --
front: 275/40ZR17 on stock 17x9 Firehawk wheels
rear: 315/35ZR17 on widened 17x10.5 Firehawk wheels with Baer's 5/8" spacers
I'm going to have some work done to reduce the size of that spacer. Traction is ok, but it could be better. I still break free with only a catback and lower compression (-2cc pistons). I'm on Strano's & Konis so my next traction mod will be LCA relcation brackets...

I have a LOT of tread left, but then I also have maybe only 3,000-4,000 miles on them. Spent $1,142 from DiscountTireDirect.

Wheels America did mine as well. Nope, mine are 2" to the inside as well, and the 1" spacer works just fine. No need for longer studs, just make sure you get an adapter and not just a spacer. the adapter bolts on to the original studs, then the wheels bolt on to the studs on the adapter.

I gotcha. I didnt realize the adapter worked that way. Did you get yours from H&R?

Those are some good looking tires. I just cant justify that kind of money for as little as I actually get to drive my car. Why are you looking to reduce the size of the spacer? Are there some negative side effects of running one?

I haven't noticed any wear in about 3k on mine. That might not be much to some, but these tires will rot out before they're bald for me.
Can you please PM me where you bought these from? I tried PM'ing you but it is messing up for me.

Good thread. I'm also looking to replace my sumisuckoz. Like everyone else, mine have worn out in the middle. Ive also spun out in the rain while turning going very slow. **** those tires.

I was looking at the Nitto DRs but I'm gong to need good wet traction too
