Default Need Advice on Street Tire

Im getting a PT4400 with the shift kit and some additional tranny work done this week. I might be looking at a set of heads as well. I currently have firehawks on stock ws6 wheels. Im not so worried about the track as I normally race with ET streets. I was wondering what tire I should use on the back for normal (not quite daily) street driving. I thought nittos might be the way to go, any suggestions?

The car is currently doing about 380ish RWHP. (never dynod though)

Thanks,

Mike

im surprised you dont have nitto DR's already for street driving. i am putting in a VIG3200 and i definately need DR's or i will be blowin smoke. go with nitto DR's and you should be fine. BF goodrich makes a drag radial but i have heard bad things about driving in the rain with them, only holding around 5-6k miles, etc. Up to you.
good luck

What kind of mileage on Nitto dr's and can you get them in a 275/35/18?? Also I think that I'd just be asking for trouble with my 10 bolt and 4.10 gears.

What suggestion for that setup??

well i have read that you can get upwards of 12k if they aren't ran hard and used as a tire and not strictly street racing. the compound is soft so they will wear fast. well, for 18's they only come in 285/35/18. mine should be here anyday, but they cost a fortune. gonna be around 500$ just for the two installed on my car. with that setup you have a good chance of running into problems. especially with 4:10's. some say 10bolts are good, and some say throwem out and save or a 12bolt. up to you

Get the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's. They are awesome. 100 times better than the stock F1's and awesome in rain.

Comp T/A drag radials I think hook up better than Nitto drag radials. But Nitto's last longer, and they both suck in the rain.

The tread is really thick and from I've seen the treadwear on the GS-D3's is supposed to be great. Not sure how many miles total because they are a fairly new tire. Depending on driving habits. I'd say about 15 grand give or take 5 grand.

I have the kumho 712's on mine, and have had them for about 20K. They are about ready to be replaced, but are nowhere near slick. I MAY get them again, but am looking an alternative that has a little more grip - my car isn't a daily anymore.

I have to change mine every 6 or so months, but it's worth it.
