I have the same size wheels, and don't rub at all with 315s. But it depends on the wheels offset. I'm lowered on stranos, but I have to beat the inner wells a bit. There's no reason to run a 40 series tire with an 18 inch wheel. Run a 275/35/18 front and a 305/35/18 or something similar.

Listen to what 98BLOWNZ28 said.

It really depends on the offset. But why do you want to run a 40 series in the rear? The car will have a goofy stance, and it will set off the ABS sensor.

A 305/40/18 is almost a 28" tire. With the right offset, it can fit. However, you'd want to roll the fenders.

Personally I'd do:

265/40/18
305/35/18

Those guys are right about the ABS sensor. Try to keep the overall tire diameter within a 1/2" of each other to avoid issues. I have the same size rims as the OP and they are the OE c5 DD ones. I run 285/35/18 Sumitomo's up front and 315/30/18 Toyo R888's in the back and love it.

+1 on that, the sensors will read that you are skidding or sliding on the road.

I run 285x35ZR18 on 9.5" rims (46mm offset) all the way around on a stock height vehicle with no problems whatsoever.

Pics? Just a question, why would you run 35's in the front and 30's in the back?

because you are trying to keep the overall diameter the same on both wheels.

width also plays a factor ....the wider rear tires have a thicker sidewall then the skinner fronts even tho one is a 35 and one is a 30

yes. 305/40 would have noticeable taller sidewall than 265/275/40 front tire, the sidewall number is just a % of the width, if you have 275/40 on front and want 305-315 rear tires, you would take 305/35 or 315/35,

i have 275/40 in front and 315/35 in the rear, when i had 18's i had 265/35 and 295/30
