those arent slicks they are drag radials.they are great for best traction but dont drive with them in the rain.17s are tough cause they dont have many sizes,15 or 16 have big sidewalls in help with traction.ive used mt 315s drag radials they are one of the best for traction like i said, but wear quickly cause they arent made like a street tire.if using stock wheels 275/40/17 are sufficient, anything else your wasting money.

lots of people run them
Pro's
work good at the track

Con's
only get like 10k
stink in the rain
side wall cracks from low psi @ track

with that being said, i would get them or NT05, 555R

So you want to run a taller tire in the front too???? Why? I've drove et streets in the rain at 70 mph before (with good tread left on them) just watch what your doing and really be careful when they are almost bald.

A lot of ppl can barely drive in the rain as is , telling somebody of unknown driving skill , that m/t are ok in the rain could be a death sentence lol

I had them on my car for 2 days. They almost killed me in the rain. If your car is a fair weather car you will be fine. If it sees any kind of DD action I would get something else.

well i would prefer to keep the fronts a 275 40 17, but i thought that running a 40 in the front and 45 in the back may aggravate the wheel speed sensors........i know it probly wouldnt, but just to be safe id prefer same tire height all around.....yea this would be a fair weather only, i have a taurus thats my daily.....seems like my only tire choice for a 295 on a 17 inch rim tho, they dont make 555r or NT05 in a 295 width on a 17"

But in all seriousness, im running a rear tire 2" taller than my fronts, it will throw an ABS INOP light and a BRAKE light on your dash, thats all. I woulnt try and run a taller front tire for 2 reasons, 1st it will probably rub your inner fender when you turn and 2nd it will look like CRAP! a 295/45/17 tire will look great on the back with a 275/40/17 on the front.

ok so im looking, and ive decided that for 850 bucks with free shipping, i can get 2 of these for the back

http://www.americanmuscle.com/mickey...al-295r17.html

and 2 of these for the front

http://www.americanmuscle.com/nitto-...275-40-17.html

now how come those nto5r tires say for use on rear only? can i run them on the front? is this a good tire combo for street and some minor strip use? now the mickey thompsons have a diameter of 27.2 inches, and the nittos have a diameter of 25.79, so we have a difference of 1.41 inches.....will that cause my ABS to not work? its a 4 channel car and id like my TCS and ABS working if at all possible

I will be running that very same MT drag radial on my 17x9.5 ZR1s and I just brought a set of 03-06 GTO spares 17x5 and I'm going to run either the Hoosier or M&H 26x5x17 radials on the front.

Don't run drag slicks in the front. I have the Mickey Thomson's in the back and went with the Kumo ECSTA MX in the front. They both have a similar looking tread pattern.
