650-700 rwhp, best tire for grip on the street?
Seems like new tires have been coming out the last couple of years.
I have 315/35x17" in the back with approx 650-700rwhp
I already have a separate set of rims for the track with ET drags so this is for street use only. I just was curious what people thought of the NT05r's or the Proxes TQ for street use.
I really want straight line grip and won't be corner carving, but also don't want to end up in a ditch with too soft of a sidewall.
Also, car likely won't be in the rain or be driven much more than 500 miles a year.
Thanks for any input...

The Toyo Proxes TQ is a specific are a street legal Drag Radial. They at least have a tread pattern. Would problably be better for street use. They could channel light water if you got caught in it.

NT05R's are pretty good tires but I'm low 300's whp. When my other car is done I'll try the 315 nittos on it...it should be a 800+whp car.
NT05R's have been GREAT on the street for me tho, WELL over 11K miles now and still going strong. Good tire life for me and sticky at the strip. Bolt on car with just lowering springs/bilsteins and LCA's its gone 1.66 with only 3200 stall/3.73's. Didnt even have to lower pressure much, it would hook at 25-26psi.
They need to be hot on a good surface to hook well. IF they are cold and the road is abit cool, i can still spin them off at slower 1st gear rolls but generally they hook well. If you were doing a low roll race, i'd roast them off first a good bit and then go. A good burnout on the street, I can go from a dig pretty hard but again, low 300's hp.
They are shakey in the rain tho at anything over 50-55 mph if the rain is pretty thick on the road. Light rain can get 60's mph and feel ok but you do feel the swaying of the rear as it hydroplanes around. Not a good feeling.
I know the mickey's and M&H tires are proven on higher hp setups. I havent seen many higher hp cars try the NT05R's. I'm gonna order a new set for my TA and hopefully within a few weeks I can start test driving/tuning the twin turbo car. I got a good bit of work to do yet tho...
My other car's old combo was high 600's whp on a stingy mustang dyno which based on other car's dynos at various other places, its 22% low compared to other shop's dyno jets. Regardless, even on my 26x11.50 ET street BIAS PLY's at low pressure on the street, I still spun them off at anything below 50mph, even in 3rd gear in the TH400 trans and 2.73 gears out back. The torque that car had just wasnt gonna hook well on the street.
