Going from 275-40-17 to 245-45-17 tires

I'm thinking about going with the 245-45-17 OR 255-45-17 tires on my ws6. Roads here are terrible and these wide tires pull all over the place.

I was also considering running this combo to reduce tramlining.
I want to run 17x8.5 C5's in the front w/ 245/45r17's
17x9.5 C5's with 275/40r17 in the rear
I haven't seen this done, but I can't imagine why it wouldn't work ok and look good.

I used to run 245's on the front for a while with 275 in back tracked better now that you mention it i might do it again when its time for new fronts. I haven't run 255's tho i don't imagine it would be too bad.

I'm considering doing 245/40/18 up front and 295/30/18 out back. I have the stock 275/40/17 on all fours right now and it's really frustrating with the car pulling all over. I feel like I have to fight it.

There's got to be more to this issue than just tire size...
I run 275 front and 315 rear on nearly every one of my fbodies, half of them did it, other half didn't.
My last one had 275/315 and pulled all the hell over the road, had Strange coilovers up front and Comp Engineering with cut springs in the rear, never did an alignment, wore the hell out of the outsides of the front tires.
My current one has 275/315 and drives straight as an arrow, I can hold it straight with my pinky. It only has Eibach, DeCarbons, 200K miles, and a recent alignment. Also rides better than any Fbody I've ever been in, what gives?
I'm thinking it has more to do with the alignment and suspension geometry than tires. I was told by my guy that did the alignment that they got it near perfect on the front, but it was off just slightly only because of the oversized tires.
What PSI are you running in tires?
I run about 35 front, and 20 rear (Nitto DR's...keep wearing in the middle)

I will agree that you'll have a higher possibility of having tramlining issues with wider tires, but I find that the tire design is more often the issue, not the size like a 275/35/18 compared to a 240/40/18. I'd also recommend not running any toe-out in the alignment, it'll only makes tramlining worse. I'd run it with a little bit of toe-in. Also keep in mind that any play in the front suspension bushings, ball-joints or tie-rod ends will also make it worse.
Been there, done that!
