Budget tires? 275/40/17
Bought the car at the end of the summer last year and picked up some used tires simply to pass inspection at the time. At this point I'm looking to buy a new set but can't justify spending a fortune since the car gets driven once a weekend for 2-3 months if that. I also only drive it in nice weather, so rarely sees rain unless I happen to get caught in it.
Discounttiredirect has:
Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance for $150 each (shipped)
Falken Ziex ZE-512 for $111 each (shipped)
Maybe Faklen up front and Nitto out back or should all 4 be the same? Any other reasonably priced options I should be looking at or are these my best bets? If I order by the end of tomorrow I'll get a $75 gift card on a set of 4!
Thanks for your input

I am also in the market for tires....that sounds pretty good. Is the price installed with insurance or just for tires?? I was thinking of going with a Nitto INVO but dunno yet...curious what others have on their cars...

I do not have a local tiredirect store so that is just the price for the tire, insurance and install for me would be additional. I have had positive experiences dealing with discounttiredirect and wheeling and dealing with them on the phone. I can generally get them to knock off another 10% and throw in insurance on 1 or 2 of the tires.
Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22 are $139 each shipped with both a $75 and $50 mail in rebate.
I don't need an all-season though, so I'm curious how much hooking/handling power I'm trading off between something like the Nitto NT555 v. Kumho or Falken listed above.

I like Nitto. For the money, they are very hard to beat. I have NT05s on my car now and love them.
The NT555 can be had for $150 a tire before rebates at Discount Tire Direct.
If you shop at Tire Rack, you can get a couple of good tires (plus shipping - see if you can get a local price match):
BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 for 136
Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 for 144
Summit also has the Mickey Thompson Street Comp for $167 - probably a very good tire. But for that price, the NT05 or several other tires would be available and appealing.
Any of those would be a good tire.

I'm looking to get some new tires as well, have had the falkens op mentioned on for a year now and the rears are down to 2/32nds and the fronts are at 3, daily driven and rotated regularly, I've been considering the hankook ventus to try next, 128 a tire at discounttiredirect.com

Riken Raptor ZRs $125/ from summitracing.com...I have them in stock 245/50/16 and they are a decent tire. definitely snap free when you push them though but a good tire to push to the limit

I wanted to go with a 275/40/17 on the front, and the guy at discount kept trying to tell me they are too wide. I have stock speedlines and stock suspension for now. What you guys think?

Thank you everyone for the advice, after quite a bit of review reading, thought about what I really want/need I've decided to spend a few more bucks since I am replacing the rear two only and going with the Nitto NT05. Will it be OK to have the current BFG Gforce up front with the Nitto NT05 out back?
@ above poster, I have 275/40/17 all the way around and it's fine. It is the stock size for 17x9 wheels, although I do not know stock sizes for TA.

I'm ordering 2 Nitto NT05's for the back, the front two BFG G-force have enough tread for another summer or two, is it OK to leave the BFG up front for now and install the NT05's on the back?

I have Hankook Ventus V4's on the front and the Nitto 555 Extreme Performance on the rear. The Hankook's are ok. They ride comfortable but nothing to brag about. Now the Nittos on the other hand, ARE THE SH*T! They're comfortable, stable in the rain, and they flat out BITE.
