Default Brand New TTMs, Just Can't Roll...

I read that the unique offset of Torque Thrust Ms allow you to install the 17x9 and 17x10.5 combo (275/315) without any modifications at stock ride height.

I bought the TTMs in black with a polished lip. I also picked up some Nitto 555s (275/315). I had the wheels and tires mounted (using black wheel weights) and they went on the SS easily. No BFH. No rubbing. Perfect fitment.

Problem, you have to roll your rear fenders if you want to lower the SS and run the 315s. I am not willing to bang my car with a big hammer or roll my fenders. The car has only 11k miles. I might as well just put the stockers back on at this point.

Just can't bring myself to have the fenders rolled. I am now selling these wheels and tires. Lesson learned? Research before you buy!

What he said.

It's an F Body not a Hemi Cuda Convertible...no one is ever going to give a **** if the fenders are rolled whether it has 11k miles or 211k miles.

I can understand what the guy is saying. If I had a 11000 mile car with mint original paint, I would shlt my pants if the paint cracked or the quarter panel rippled at all. Like he said, should have researched more first.

I don't mind changing the springs and shocks, as those are just bolt ons. I was told by local guys that do roll fenders that the paint will likely crack.

I will sell these brand new wheels and tires (that should be fun) and get 9.5" wheels and avoid the rolling of fenders. I understand the previous comments, its not some expensive collector car, but the paint is so nice as it is.

Thanks for your responses guys.

My 315 nittos on 17" TTIIs with BMR springs don't even come close to rubbing.

And if you know what you are doing the paint won't crack or ripple. I have done 3 sets with a bat, no issues.

That what I have heard. The Trans Am has more room back there and does not need rolling. The SS needs only a minor roll.

Is the clearance issue on one side or both? If it's only on one side, you might want to install an adjustable panhard bar. The OE ride height of the f-bods is inconsistent enough, that an adjustable PHB is almost mandatory with larger than stock wheels/tires, no matter what....

Rent the roller, use a heat gun and heat up the paint in the area to be rolled to allow it to stretch more easily .Take your time rolling it putting a little more pressure on the roller on each pass .Worked flawlessly for me id give it a try to allow for a wider wheel in the rear.I think it just looks meaner on these cars especially after lowering.

I didnt have to roll anything...or BFH anything either. I do have a TA though but there is plenty of room around the lip area. Im running 315's in the rear too. They are the Nitto 555r's and ive heard they are narrower than any other 315 so when i get a different set we'll see. Im also lower on Strano's too

but if you want you can check out my thread if you havent already ...its got plenty of pictures of the TTM's mounted.
