nitto 555r not hooking
nitto 555r not hooking i just put some 555rs on my 99 t/a i have some mods about 430 rwhp. new bilsteens all the way around. problem i cant get it to hook at all tire spin and wheel hop out of the hole. tried different lbs pressure from 15 to 20 still not alot of difference . was it a mistake to put these on it . still running stock rear end 3:23 gears and auto with 2900 stall. wanting to go to 3:73 soon. ran 12.60s even with tires spinning and wheel hop. 1.90 60 ft time sucks . need some help.????
TGEAR, I have seen a lot of guys running these tires. It appears these tires need a lot of heat to hook well with a stalled auto.
HCI, I wouldn't run radials with a 6 spd - I have never seen anyone have any good results with a radial and 6 spd. If you want to hook well stick with a bias tire.

Im running 397 whp (3.42 gear) on motor and hook on the track with so so prep. Hooks well on the street however. On the 150 shot I can hook on the street surprisingly well but have zero traction at the track even with prep. I'm talking about I can do a 3-5 second burn out and still spin at 100mph on spray with the 555R's.
I recently bought some 255/50/16 Hoosier drag radials and hook like a **** on the street or track on the 150 shot. This is without a burnout, just a short haze to clean the crap off the surface of the tire. Hope this helps.

Get them hot. By hot I mean 2nd gear burnout at a decent RPM for 7-10 seconds.
If you made 430rwhp through a stalled auto they just might not be the tires for you unless the track is prepped excellent and there are no street tire cars running before you.

Nit to 555r, my first exp with drag radials, bI'm pleased. Street tires roasted at anything under 30. These grab from any speed even from a stop. Only timI've got them to spin is when the n2o hits, spin like a shift kit hitting tho, and grab right away. Track grip was good on motor. Small burnout.
