Default tire size question

I'm looking to buy some 17" ws6 sportline wheels from a member on here. He's including the tires but they are slightly different sizes than people run on these rims.

275/45/17 on the rear and 245/45/17 on the fronts. Do you guys think this would look goofy or have any fitment issues? I'm just a little nervous about it because I'm really really **** about this kind of stuff. Any input is appreciated..thanks!

do you mean 275/40/17?

If so both those tires are same in diameter, and fall within rim width range.

They're just staggered widths, and staggered look is all personal preference. I think some cars look awesome staggered just sucks ya can't rotate them.

Shouldn't have fitment issues if they are 275/40/17s in the rear.

No. He said they are 275/45 in the back and 245/45 in the front. I'm most worried about the 245s on a 9" rim.

I'm a newb but pretty sure that tire doesn't exist, maybe he typoed?

Either way, I hear ya about being **** that 245 will be stretched out and the 275 will be bulged but they do fit according to their width ranges.

I want 295s on the rear of my ride and saw that people put them on 9.5s but the tire isn't within spec for that wheel so I was very skeptical about that.

One person even said the 295 on a 9.5 wheel is a faster running tire and I was like "huh?" Person never responded when I asked about it.

Like I said I'm new but you should be good. I just don't know about the 275/45 for your situation. That size tire is 26.7 in diameter.

They definitely exist. The seller is willing to sell only the wheels so i'll probably go that route and just buy brand new tires. I just think the 245's on a 9" wheel will look stretched and goofy.

I had 245's on my ZR1's when I bought the car, not sure why the kid did it but I wasn't a fan. It's barely noticeable, but I didn't think it looked good because I knew what it should have looked like. Here's what it looked like with the 245's up front and 275's in the back, you can kinda see the difference, albeit negligible:

Man i can hardly notice in that picture. I'd save almost $400 if i just bought his tires. I suppose i can always run them until i have enough money to buy new tires. Decisions........

PS: Got any more pics of that setup?

You can't rotate the tires, so you'll burn through the 275s faster. I run staggered 275/315, but the 315s are drag radials and will never be on the front, so I don't much care. But on a street tire, I'd definitely want to be able to rotate the tires.

Plus, with like Nitto NT555s it's like $535 for a set of four 275s from Discount Tire.

Ask and ye shall receive! I now have 275's all around, which are being replaced this weekend with OEM C5 Z06 wheels with stock sized tires.

Here's the only pic I ever got of the car last year after I put the new 275's on all 4 corners. But you can see the difference in the front:

^I don't think it looks THAT bad with the 245's. I think i'll just go that route for now and then get 275's all around down the road some time.

Would you go with 555s over Riken Raptors, Sumitomo HTRZ 3's and/or BFG comp 2's?

I will add that i do not race this car. I'm basically looking for something affordable that doesn't make alot of road noise and looks/rides nice.

i searched high and low and found no results for that tire but hey ***** Mays Hays!

I'd say if you want the wheels and the tires aren't much more get em. If you think they look like crap they won't last forever.

I'm debating on 555s or BFG KDW 2s, myself and know people like them both.

The price is the only thing I'm considering go expensive 1st or cheaper. I just need something better in the rain then what I have on it now. I'm curious about the road noise out of these tires too.

Riken Raptors or Sumitomo HTRZ 3 I'd stay away from...

The 555s are very nice and I have them on my daily driver Nissan Altima SE-R with 245/45-18s. They are good in the rain, don't make a ton of noise, are comfortable, and perform well. I expect 30k miles easily out of them. Maybe even 40k on that car. I stepped down from Yokohama Advan Neova AD08s on that car and I got around 22k miles out of those... but they were loud, not very comfortable, had horrible wet traction after a while, but still have the best dry "grip" of any tire I've ever seen. But the problems with them... and the fact that they went out of round and vibrated horribly made me look for a Z rated tire that actually was "nice."

The BFG comp 2 are also good. I don't think they are cheaper, however. At least not from what I've seen of price + shipping.

Btw, I have NT05s on the Trans Am in the front and NT05Rs in the back. They have more grip than the 555s but really aren't bad for noise or comfort. They just have a little higher grip.

Alot of guys put that narrow tire on the front becasue they don't like the way 275 and bigger tend to wwander in road ruts. I don' get it, but whatever. I personally wouldn't Put Riken or Sumitomo on my lawnmower. Especially when Nitto or BFG are only marginally more expensive. Putting junk tires on the only part of the car that touches the road never seemed like a good idea to me. Compound that in a performance application.

The 275 wander is more of a problem with alignment specs as well. Yes, they do tend to tramline a bit more, but by going with a narrower front, you introduce understeer...

I did have that wander problem on my old car that had 275s all around. Didn't do it with the stock 245s.

Ive had Sumitomo and Riken tires before and didn't think they were bad, but then again I didn't have much to compare it to.

Depending on wheel widths 245/45R17 F and 275/40R17. I prefer the 275/40R17 all the way around.

Whatcha guys think? Any other ideas for the car? Obviously tint is the next on the list.

Oh and, for the sake of starting a new thread.

I want to clean these things up. It seems that stripping the clear coat and just repolishing them would be my best bet. Does anyone have any before/after pics of doing this? Every thread i search on here regarding this is so old and the pictures don't show up.
