Default running 5x120's on your 5x4.5?! lets hear from ya!

I've been looking to get vmr v710's and they have the 5x120 bolt pattern instead of our 5x4.75

I heard some ppl run them anyway without problems, ive also heard people have sheered wheel studs because of the added stress..

so who's got this set up? any problems with it? and is anyone using the adapters? I googled 5x120 wheel on 5x4.5 car and got a lot of results for these adapter things they sell to make the rim bolt up correctly, theyre like 60 bucks a piece I think

If you are talking about a 4th gen F-body, they are on a 5x4.75. A lot of people run the 5x120 without issue. I would not do it on my personal vehicle. No matter how you slice it you are applying a force towards the center of the circle that the lugs were never intended to handle.

This. I've got hub-centric rings on mine and they are fine.

I would use a hub centric ring when running 5x120's.

But the difference between 5x4.75 (5x120.65mm) and 5x120mm is miniscule. It's less than the width of a piece of mechanical pencil lead. A lot of people would argue that GM's tolerances are more than that...

I can never understand why people get so bent out of shape about .65mm on a bolt pattern..... Like someone said above, grab a .7mm lead pencil and get an idea of how much we are talking. It is also the bolt pattern, so it is .325mm on each side different. I can almost bet GM tolerances are not that tight, and most wheel manufactures as well... . I have been running them for 5+ years, no hubcentric nothing. The Hubcentric rings i got with my car didn't do anything.
