Need some opinions here
So here's my line of thinking, correct me if any of my figures are wrong, but a stock F-body uses 7.5" BS wheels, so with the 1.75" narrowing that means I would need a 5.75" BS wheel.
1) I really want Weld RTS wheels 15x10 so I'm going to have to get them custom made anyway. Using 275 Nitto 555R tires and measuring how far my current wheels sticks out of the quarter, using a 5.75" BS wheel would mean that the bulge of the tire would stick out 1/16" out of the fender. After having the fenders rolled, I do not think it would be an issue, and the wheels will be located where they should be.
2) Same Wheels and tires, but instead of getting a 5.75" BS I order them with a 6" BS, this would tuck the tire under the fender by 3/16" My thought process on this one is eventually id like to do mini tubs and run a 325 that is like 28" tall. So having the tire tucked in further would be more beneficial in this situation.
The bump stops are gone and I have plenty of room to expand inward, by maybe 1.5" before any more BFH'ing is needed.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts and opinions on what I should do, side note, anybody needs Weld Draglites 15x10 with 5" BS im selling mine.
Thanks Guys.
If you want to go with a 6"BS then do it, it sounds like going inward another 1/4" won't hurt you clearance since you've done a bunch of clearancing already.
BTW leadfoot4 , The factory 16 x 8 +55 offset wheel have about 6.6" of B.S..
My CCWs had 6.75" of backspacing, as measured by myself. I thought that I had also measured the backspacing of the OE wheels, before I bought the CCWs, and thought it was 6", but it's been about 16-17 years since I took that measurement......
