Boyd Coddington timeless 5's
Hey folks, I've been in touch with the sales manager over at American Republic Wheels. They recently bought out Boyd wheels. At any rate I asked if he could build me a set of Timeless 5's for an F body. His response was yes. That said a few weeks ago I was going through a number of wheels threads and I ran across a white WS6 with these wheels. If I recall correctly the the thread was 2-3 years old. I do not recall if the wheels were 17's or 18's. I'm leaning towards 17's though. I'm very interested in the wheels and I was wondering if any of you know which car I'm referring to. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Ron.

go with 18s with no stepped lip . I made the mistake when i bought my boyd rims years ago for my 85 to get 18s with a stepped lip . Then what happens is the center is only a 17" inch rim basically with limits putting on 14" brakes
So 18s with a stepped lip or 17s with the flat lip with have the same room for brakes.
And be sure not to do 17s with a stepped lip otherwise all you can run is the factory 12" brakes and wont even be able to do c5 brakes.
Just wanted to let you know my experience.

Well I'm kind of disappointed they cannot build the 17's or 18's in 11" wide. He quoted me 2900.00 for 18X9 and 18X10 timeless 5's. If I'm going to spend that kind of money I want exactly what I'm looking for. I might just hold off until I find a nice used set of FM5's with tires.
Thanks for chiming in fellas.

why go 18x8 , who the hell wants less than a 275 tire up front except a drag racer ?The car came with a 275 dont go smaller . I think you will be fine , a lot of 295 choices for the 18s.

You don't need a 275 size tire up front to be a good street car. Plenty of cars come with 235 and 245 size front tires from the factory that can handle much better than a LS1. I'm just giving the OP a logical option for a front size wheel when he's limited to a 18x10 rear wheel. If it's logical to go with a 18x9 front with 18x11 rears, then why would it be any different to go with a 18x8 front with a 18x10 rear? You act like 1 inch is going to be life and death. Plenty of people street drive 17x7 front wheels with a 225 size front tire.
