Default Sticky Tire Options For Stock Wheels

Of course most f-bodys start with 16x8 wheels and its not the best starting point. But Im going to rock it for now. I know the 255/50/16 MT ET Street Radials fit and the 245/50/16 Nittos fit. Are there any other options out there?

I have been running them both for years......nittos are good street tires but the mickeys work great at the track! I have them mounted on stock snowflakes sleeper look.

One thing I can say about Nittos at the track is, THEY SUCK! Don't expect them to cut record breaking 60s lol.

I think m&H makes a nice drag radial too.

M&H has a 275/55/16 drag radial http://www.mandhtires.com/M-H-Drag-R...6#.VWkfUlVVhBc
and Toyo drag radials have a 255/50/16 and a 275/45/16 http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/pr...g-radial-tires

TOYO Proxes 255/50/16 are a good choice for the street. Won't perform like Mickeys at the track, but a good fairly sticky street tire. I've got about 2 years on mine daily driving.

I had the TQ's in 255/50/16 and now 275/40/17 and like you said they are a great street tire, and I was able to pull a 1.7 60 ft at the track but they were aired down quite a bit.

OP have you looked into hoosier DOT drag radials in 255/50/16? I have a spare set of stock wheels I'm going to get these tires for as track just to use at the track.

Nitto Dr's are a good street tire, not so good for the track.

If your looking to hook up any drag radial should serve you well. I also recommend the Toyo TQ's.

I run the toyos 275 40 17 on the street. I did it for a cheaper alternative to mt drs.
I wouldn't waste my time at the track with the toyos if I was looking for a personal best but they are a better street tire than the mt. The mt netted my car the #s in the sig.

In my humble opinion and experience, it is a waste of time trying to find one tire to do it all. Buy a set of street tires that will last and run well in rain for your DD needs. Have a extra set of wheels for a dedicated set of Mickey Thompsons or Hoosiers for when you go to the track. I have put Nitto nt05r's and Toyo TQ's on DD's and I was constantly replacing them and wishing I had more tire at the track.

Has anyone out there tried the new Pirelli PZero Trofeo R's?? With a price tag at over 2 grand a set Im not to interested in seeing how they perform. Reading says they aren't a good tire for the street but great for the track being that they are supposed to be super sticky. I'll be waiting on that review*

True enough, but the problem with street tires that do well in the rain is that most of them won't handle a hard 1-2 shift without sending the car sideways - in the dry. I have a bunch of spare wheels with Mickeys for the strip, snow tires, etc. But I have yet to find that elusive street tire that sticks when you need it to. That's why a lot of us run TOYOs or Nittos on the street despite the downsides.

The 'track' that they are speaking of is a ROAD COURSE, NOT the 1/8 or 1/4 mile patch of asphalt that 99.9999% of most on here ONLY care about.

With their stiff/short sidewalls, those tires would probably lose 60' time for most on here.

Yea I dont care about the road course. And Im also not concerned with a street tire that doesnt do well at the track(hence the thread title).
