WIDEST 315/35/17 that is not a drag/roadrace tire
I have searched, but most things are old. I can not even find BFG or Goodyear available in this size anymore. When we bough these wheels there were some Dunlops on there and man did they look good!
I am looking a street tire(at least 200 treadwear) that looks good on our 17x11 Boyds and won't break the bank.
CURRENTLY, what are the offerings?

I like everything about the Nitto 555, except the width. They seem to run more narrow than most(Nitto in general).
I like the traction, looks are OK, etc. I just remember the BFG and Goodyear having a much wider look. HMMMMM

whew! That is the good looking WIDE tire I want. BUT, 1247 for 4 of those. That's before installation or shipping! Little out of my price range.
Thanks for finding that...... Checking tirerack soon for other options as well!
Checked. That is the only one in there! Unless, you count the Toyo R888!

I do like the Nitto N05. I looked at a comparison and they look wider than the other Nitto tires. On one comparison I can't find, the BFG was only VERY slightly wider...

a 315 tire should be 31.5/2.54 = 12.4015 inches wide mathematically
From the Nitto website
NT-555 = 12.56
NT-05 = 12.4
NT-05R = 12.48
NT-555R = 12.13 (Almost more like a 305)
THe NT-555R, not the line as a whole, are proven to run small (by any significant amount). We need to make sure we get accurate information o here and not baseless speculation.
The 275 NT-05 run 0.03 under the mathematical equivalent, that was not enough to get make a difference in my decision making nor is it material.

Thanks Camaro 99. I like the tread pattern of the NT-05, price is OK, they seem to run true to their size as well. I started this thread because I have run 3 tires on these wheels and I can surely say they all have "looked" to be different widths. The Sumitomos being the smallest.
I'm liking the NT-05s as well.

I've got the Nitto Motivo's in 315/35/17 on my 11" zr1 rims. The tires are at least as wide as the similar sized Summitomo. They are an all season tire. If you look real closely, you can see how wide the rear tires are in the photo.

There's the Kumho Ecsta XS 315/35/17, it's still a good $50 less per tire than the Eagle F1 GS-D3.

After talking to a few people, and Nitto, they stated the tread width of the 555 is wider than the 555R and is comparable to the NT05, even though I would give up a little traction.
With this factors, and the quicker availability of the 555, I went with them.
