That wheel has paint failure. I would just strip them and keep them bare, polished aluminum because they will have a better sheen.

No it won't. That's the clear coat failing on the wheel.

Aircraft stripper. You can grab it at Walmart or any parts store.

Oh ok, thanks.

Looks like a side job for the wheels while I have them off for my suspension install next week.

Do the tires have to be off the rim when you strip them or can it be done with them on? thanks!

Make sure you take off your center cap off before you stray the aircraft cleaner. It will eat the paint off it as well.

It can be done with them on. It's in the write-up.

Strip those wheels with some aircraft stripper to remove all of the failing clear-coat, and then proceed to polish them with a very good metal polish like Adams, White Diamond, etc.

It looks to me that the rim suffers from I.G. corrosion, even with stripper, it will leave pits in the aluminum.

Hell I may just buy a set of black wheels and let someone else deal with these. They are the original WS6 wheels that came one the car. What are they worth in current condition?

Its called Filiform corrosion, the clearcoat must be removed and the corrosion must be sanded off.

Powder coat, we got a guy here in Illinois that has done all of our OE GM wheels that are cosmetically damaged and brought them back to life. Just throwing it out there if the others are doing the same.

Yeah my car is about to go to the paint shop and I think I'm gonna have the OE wheels powder coated black while it's in there.

Honestly I haven't researched that part. First on my agenda is getting quotes from paint shops and estimated ETA's. I don't want to lose my car for 6 months. LoL.
