The wheels came in last Friday, and the front set of tires came in yesterday. Ordered tires from the same company, but they had a 7% off 2 wheels deal on eBay, so they had a different shipping date, go figure. But, for all 4 for under 800 that's fine with me.
Be sure to post some pics once installed. The redlines were always iffy to me unless you have a black or red car* Im about to order some brand new oem c6 z06 polished wheels. Cant friggin wait**
For sure. Gonna have a little fun and really test out the line lock on the old tires lol.
On a side note, this should be a big improvement over the old khumo ecsta 711's that are on it when I bought it last June. I've yet to be able to go WOT in first, even before the FTRA, lid, LTs/Y-Pipe.
Don't know yet, still waiting on the 2 rear tires to come in. I've only had the shitty khumos since I've had the car, but I'll let you know my experience with these when I get em on
I don't know how they compare to any other tire.. I'm new to the game, so to speak. From what I gather from Nitto website and YouTube videos and whatnot, they're an improved 555, better wet and dry traction even with a slightly harder compound 320 vs 300 of the 555's.
But yeah, supposed to be a good sticky Street tire, that still handles well wet.
If I can go WOT in first without having to heavily slip the clutch, I'll be a happy camper lol
Got tires mounted up at a shop around the corner from my house, took the time to paint the brake calipers red, so took a while to get the tires on. Ended up having to shave the bump stop a bit so the tires weren't riding it and getting damaged. But here's the final product, I like it alot.
And regarding the 555G2's.... I'm absolutely loving them. For the first time since I bought the car, I can go WOT all the way through first gear without blowing the tires out. The other tires, say going a normal start from a stop sign/light then punch it about 2kRPM, if the initial punch didn't spin em, theyd go at about 4000 and break loose, throw it in 2nd and keeps spinning. The 555G2's, doesn't seem to matter where I punch it from, they just go, throw into 2nd, quick 'chirp' and keep on going.
As far as cornering, haven't been getting too crazy, but having taken some turns at a 'higher' rate of speed.. I don't know how to explain it really, you just kinda 'feel' the tires gripping, I dunno.
