Default 18x10.5 and 295 square setup

Hey guys I'm new here, I have an 01 sunset orange metallic ss hardtop 6 speed car that I'm in the process of fixing up. I'm currently looking at a set of c6 zo6 wheels that are 18x10.5 and look to be running a 295 square setup (not a fan of staggered setup) I plan on tracking the car at V.I.R. Some so I like the wider tire up front. My question is what will I need to do in order to run this setup? I plan on eventually lowering on strano lowering springs later on. Ive searched for answers but haven really found a solid answer. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Nothing besides maybe wheel spacers. I ran 315's all the way around on 17x11's for a few years while autocrossing.

Those wheels probably aren't C6 Z06 wheels. I don't remember that size being available. I remember 18x9.5, but could be wrong. Did you mean O.E.M or aftermarket that resemble the original. Either way, you just need to know your backspacing. The back is a little more forgiving than the front, especially if you are at a lower ride height. If you are going with the popular aftermarket company, O.E.LLC, I think most of there wheels are a 7.96 backspacing. Snug on the rear, could rub on the bottom of upper ball joint on front. Make sure you reach over the top of tire to check. That bolt will make quick work of tearing up a new tire.

So what I'm basically understanding is I'd just avoid a lot of hassle if I just drop it down a size to 17x10.5 and possibly run spacers

Limited, not none, tire choices in 17" diameters. 18 and 19 have all the choices now in wide tires. There are many inexpensive wheel options out there. With 10.5" rims, shoot for 7 5/8 to 7 3/4 backspacing. With less wheel width you can get by with less backspacing.

what is the offset of the wheels you are looking at? I know there are a couple guys on here running the c5 z06 speedlines in 18x10.5 on all 4 corners and I believe those +56 offset IIRC. I am running 18x10.5 weld RTS wheels with 295's on all 4 corners of my car without issues, +50 offset though. depending on the offset yous hould have no problems with those wheels, and you'll have more tire options with the 18 vs the 17" rim

^^^ dojob was one of the guys I was thinking of, although I guess I was wrong on the offset of those wheels. I must be thinking of the OEM c6 z06 rear wheels

I have 20mm spacers on mine. Hard cornering I was kissing the inner qtrs and on max compression at a 45 degree angle the rear wheel that was down was catching the bump stop mount.

20mm isn't needed to stop it from rubbing or catching but it's what looks best and max I could do with the arp studs i have
