Default 20mm spacers....how long should the ARP studs be?

Will 2.5" long ARP studs be too long?

I want to use the factory style close-ended lug nut.

Thanks.

I don't think they will be long enough...I believe I bought 2.5" ARP's and running a 12.5mm Eibach spacer I have exactly ONE lug nut length left in the front. I bought Dorman OEM steel open ended lug nuts from Rock Auto. A 20mm spacer will be sketchy. I hope you are at least getting a hub centric spacer. I would think about 3-3.5" ones.

I was going to buy these spacers. But I was also going to press out the studs they have in the spacers, and just use the spacer and new longer ARP bolts.

Maybe we could help each other out with this issue. I just installed the 2.5" (100-7708) ARP studs and was trying to figure out the maximum spacer thickness I could run. With a 15.875 mm spacer, I have about 9 turns of the wheel nut. If following McGard's thread engagement rule of thumb, I need at least 8 turns (minimum thread engagement should equal diameter stud length) and therefore around 17 mm is as thick as you could go.

My question to you is do you have stock wheels? If so, could you tell me how many turns of the wheel nut (thread engagement) you have? The reason I ask is that TireRack recommends 6.5 turns of the wheel nut as a minimum for 12mm studs. I had around 5 but with OEWheels.

Thanks for the post.

I also have OE Wheels. C5 deep dish. So I guess I will get 5 turns also.

So I guess I need 3" studs to get an additional 3-4 turns.

Hopefully someone can tell us how many turns they get with factory rims. I'd like to be able to whatever that number of turns is.

For $33, buy them and see what you get. But I don't think you 2.5" studs will work.

I use:
-20mm hub centric spacers
-2.5" 12x1.5 .509 knurl ARP wheels studs
-1.38" 12x1.5 Rocket Racing lug nuts

Based upon my calculations prior to purchase this was either directly the same as oem engagement or just a bit more.

All you need to do to figure it out is: add 20mm to length of stock stud... that # should be the same length as the ARP 2.5" stud or just a bit less

Great simple way to look at it.

Thanks.

You pressed the studs out of the spacers, the studs that came with the spacers.....then just used the longer 2.5" ARP studs that you pressed into your factory hubs....correct?

ARP's 100-7708 UHL is 2.5" whereas OEM stud's UHL is 1.903" (2.073 Total Length). Adding 20 mm (0.787402") to stock stud length equals 2.70".

OEM stud 1.63" (41.5mm)
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/r...t/model/camaro

ARP 2.5"(63.5mm)
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...7708/overview/

63.5-41.5=2mm to spare with 20mm spacer...

That's based on Dorman's measurements, not stock OEM studs.

Stock Studs:

Total Length: 2.073"
UHL: 1.903"
Knurl Dia.: 0.509"
Knurl Length: 0.300"
Nose Length: 0.326"

Mental math tells me 2.073" OEM minus the nose lenth of .326" get me to Dorman's length... since they don't have quick-start noses on their studs... nor does ARP's stud...which has no impact on thread engagement

...thank you for the micrometer measurements though. Appreciate your time

Im using 3.250" lugs with 15mm spacers, and you can barely tell the studs are extended.

Quick Reply: 20mm spacers....how long should the ARP studs be?
