Default Why do 275s rub on my 99 TA

I just put a set of C5 wagon wheels on my TA 18 inch rears. Can anyone tell me why the passenger rear tire rubs on accell or cornering? I know the rim is 9.5 inches but its the same size tire width wise as a stock ws6/ss.

I looked at the tire and cannot see any marks where it could be rubbing on sidewall or anything.

Of note I have Koni Str.ts and Strano lowering springs as well as adj panard and rear sway.

The stock 16s with 245s never rubbed after the suspension installation...

Take a broom stick or something then put it at the base of the tire and lean it against qtr panel... Then measure the distance from the tire to stick on each side. Should be the same.

I'm assuming you have tire rub on the inside because the axle isn't centered

The off set on the vette c5 wheels are different than f body stock wheels.

The rears off set is +79. I had the same problem with my c5 thin spoke wheels. Bfh or spacers/adapter time..

Agree with the previous...Center your rear axle. Should be convenient with your adjustable panhard. There are plenty of measuring methods that work fine. With the wheels off, I usually tape a string to the outside of each wheel well. Let the string hang down with a weight like a nut or washer. Measure from string horizontally to the outside or inside of a rotor. It's a bit of extra work, but it helps if you are by yourself and are doing other suspension work as well. It should it will work fine with the wheels on too.

It’s not the be all end all. It just happens to work really well for me.

Excellent point as well, and easily overlooked.(just as I did). With all the vette repros out there that have fbody offset, it's easy to assume. Good call.

Default I just did the broomstick measurement

Did the broomstick measurement...wow 3/4 of an inch in difference! Driver side measures at 1 1/4 inch and passenger side (rubbing culprit) measures at 2 inches. So I just need to roll the rear on my ramps and twist the panhard bar to push to the passenger side between 1/4 in and 1/2 in?( Half of 3/4) so it's even?

I'd jack it from the axle. Put a jack stand under for safety. Then adjust. Then lower it down. Remeasure while it's on the ground. Repeat till centered

Adjusted phb and it's centered perfect. Now both wheels rub ever so slightly under really hard cornering. Am I looking at BFH or spacers now?

spacers will make the car look better. 20mm spacers would be great.

I have 285/35/18s on 38 offset

I have 285-35-18 drag radials on Vette wagon wheels and have no rubbing issues.
On bmr lowering springs too
