Is it a good idea to put 20s on the back of my 2000 trans am?

Obviously that's a matter of opinion

I was asking because I'm not sure if it would cause any clearance issues. OBVIOUSLY. Only respond if you intend to be helpful

When then maybe you should have asked that to begin with. What offset and width? What size tire? Are you lowered? OBVIOUSLY these things are important know. You can't ask a vauge question like that, and expect a specific answer

Its called a general question not a vague one. I thought people were on this forum to help. My mistake. I may not be a car genius, but I'm not a condescending douche bag either.

Look at the general nature and wording of your question. You wouldn't ask a question like..."hey is it a good idea to make my car faster" without first stating your curreent mods, goals, etc. Obviously certain 20" will fit, but it depends on certain things like mentioned above. Not trying to be a jerk, but your question has to have some degree on intelligence and specificness to be answered in a helpful way.

IMO, a 19" in the front and a 20" in the rear can look really good on a Trans Am. You can't just throw rims that large on though. Some basic suspension work needs to be done to achieve that good appearance. Lowering springs (Strano or BMR), shocks (Koni, Bilstein), and a panhard bar to line up the rear axle bc it may shift to one side after lowering. Like HCI said, the offset and width is crucial. Rolling your rear fenders or using a big hammer to bang the inside of the rear wheel wells may be needed as well.
This is HotWhipTA's ride with 19/20 CCW 505a's. His car is far from stock and pulls of the larger rims perfectly.

Everything @HCI2000SS posted above is correct. The original question ("is it a good idea") invited opinion rather than fact. Folks here are not mind readers; any help you get will only be as good as the questions you ask - and that's true for any forum.

I don't like the 19/20 size combo at all, but the wheels themselves look fantastic. Great style. Would look perfect in an 18" all-around but, like most aspects regarding wheel choice, that's strictly a matter of opinion.

it depends on wheel choice, like hotwhips car it works due to the wheel choice, But you are invited negative comments just asking a general question......I dont think Hotwhip did he just posted and most thought theyd never like it and did. Myself being one of them. suspension is an issue for sure I think you would need a coilover setup to get the wheel well gap correct and not bottom out on simple bumps. Its gonna ride a little more firm since you will have to run a thinner sidewall to get it all in there.

There are a few that have done it maybe one of them will chime in but the above is my general synopsis. Also there is likely going to be a performance loss to the rotational weight

My opinion is no, don't put 20s. Too little sidewall, too stiff of a ride, inviting rim damage on potholes/bumps. Remember these cars were made before the big tire and big wheel craze. I'd go 18s for sure but me personally no bigger.
