Default Time for new tires. Need recommendations.

I need to replace all four tires on my car. It's an '02 WS6 M6 with around 450 WHP. I'm running 275 front and 315 rear, all 17s. This is a weekend toy, street car that will only be driven on nice days. I've looked primarily at Nitto and am torn between NT05, NT05R, NT555 G2, NT555R. I'm also looking at Toyo Proxes TQ.

Im a fan of the M/T Street Comp's and Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. Doesn't look like the Indy's have 315's though.

I ran the yokohama s drive up front. Paired those with hoosier, mt or toyo. I consider those drs listed in order of performance 1, 2 and 3. Longevity is opposite of course. For mostly a street car the mt is just fine but I go for the toyo. Still great traction, save money and they last a little longer. Still got a 1.6 60" with them at the track.

I have similar power and have ran the proxies and the 555R on the back in a 275 17R 40 personally the best tire I've used for traction was the Micky Thompson Street SS drag radial. If its a weekend warrior that's what I would recommend. Best drag radial I've used for tread life and decent performance (rain or dry) was the 555R nitto, I run the 555 G2 up front and it has been a great tire. I daily drive my car so...… there's that.

May also want to look at the toyo r888r's i had a set and they were on par or maybe even a bit better on the street then the nitto 555r's that i previously had. They also handle ALOT better then a drag radial.

I'm wondering if I should go with NT555 G2s all the way around. I'm not looking to replace my 10-bolt anytime soon and would hate to grenade it with too much grip behind my new HP.

i have 295/35/18 NT05's on all 4 corners of my car and love them, i am on my second set. I've had them on my car for 6+ years now and am still on the factory 10 bolt and m6 with no issues and i was at around 400whp n/a. currently installing a turbo kit on my car so we'll see how they do with more power and may end up stepping up to an NT05r on the back if needed

Since its a street car only driven on nice days, go with the NT05r or et street ss. I've had the 555r, TQ, et street ss, and Hoosier DOT 2 and based on my experiences with all these, the NT05r seems like it would be the perfect combination of all 4 of those. If it was more a daily then the TQ's are hard to beat.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I tried to find some reviews on them on Youtube...yeah I know...and I all I found was people bashing them because they expect them act like a drag radial.

Maybe a safe bet. I'm a bolt-on A4 with a decent bit of suspension running R888's. Car just grabs and goes. No spin no smoke.

I have similar mods and am an M6 like you and just switched from toyo r888's to regular street tires (firestone firehawk indy 500's) and for everyday normal driving the firestone's are fine. However the r888's gripped a lot better, I actually had traction in first gear with them however these firestones light up instantly if I give them any power off the line. Unfortunately the nitto nt555 g2's and just about any regular street tire are going to be the same way but if you know what to expect out of them I'm sure they will be fine.

How will these R rated tires handle on curves for street driving?

the toyo r888's are an autocross tire so they actually handle great. Drag radials generally handle ok but you can feel the soft sidewall on some turns

315 Toyo TQ DR's in back and 275 TOYO Proxes 4 up front. I've ran everything under the sun and the Toyo TQ is the best compromise out there regarding drag radials. The TQ is great around corners compared to everything I've run. I suppose the NT-05's were pretty good but the Toyo's are stiffer and surprisingly hook better than the 555R's. The Proxes 4 up front are super quiet and do not railroad like other tires I've ran. Unless Nitto made changes recently, I don't expect I'll ever go back. It is a great combination especially if you swap all 4 at the same time.

After talking to a good friend that had a GT500 that made 750 to the tire and something like 650+ftlbs, he was using the MT SS radials and could hook 2nd gear. I decided to go with them in the back, 315/35/17 and the Nitto G2's 285/45/17 up front. I'll give some feed back once I get them on and put some miles on them.

What HP would someone be pumping out to need some street slicks, regardless of brand? 450-500hp?
I'm not near that, just curious. I'll need tires in the next couple of weeks so in my searching I've obviously seen the MT's and hoosiers...
On another note, where do ya'll usually buy your tires? Online or in store? What website do ya'll prefer or what tire store?

Apparently it wont be Tire Rack because they don't carry Nitto's from what I see....
