Need a spare compact tire for an 02 Camaro, help?
I have been trying to get my O2 Camaro back up and running legal and I finally succeeded in doing so after half killing myself trying to get the thing running. Finally got some used tires on there last week which was better than what I had on there and then I probably had to blowout last night that resulted in a complete and other nightmare with a scene old man screaming in my face a bunch of belligerent nonsense.
I keep running into tires that are a little bit different size like the tire size that came with the spare on that year Camaro is a 135x 60rx16. I mean if you see one it's like brand new for almost $200. I don't have that kind of money. I keep finding some that are 125 70 16. And I read somewhere that that will actually fit into our wheel compartment. But every one of these that I find that size is related to a Nissan seneca.
now I'm learning all about the lug sizes and whatnot okay from what I'm reading if I'm understanding this correctly I could buy the 25 70 16 Nissan spare wheel and tire which is 5x114. Buy a 5x120 converter or spacer, which attaches to the lugs then provides another place to mount the 5x114 spare when needed?
or if anybody has any other input I'm just all open ears. I'm very very broke and I was so excited to have this car running but I need to have my spare. The one I have just leaks there I don't know what's wrong with it if it's got something in it or if it just wore down it's probably just old.

I would try the 125/70/16 size you have mentioned above, that's what the result was of this earlier thread on the same topic:

There is no need to buy a new wheel for some other application nor any sort of spacer to make it work. That tire will fit the stock spare wheel just fine.

Thank you so much.
I'm a female and I've had the luxury of shade tree Mechanics for all of my adult life so I just feel really dumb asking some of the questions that I am here and I appreciate your reply. I mean that's a point too though like if I buy the size tire that I referenced it's going to come on a wheel just because that's the state of it but we're on Earth do you go to have that tire transferred to my stock rim? I mean everyone I've called and reached out to like the main places you know discount NTB and Walmart and everywhere else they all said that they don't touch those tires. So that's the reason I was thinking about having to leave it on whatever wheel I bought it on and use an adapter. Is there some sort of specialist type place that deals with those?

Now, it's true that this is not the *exact* size of the original spare, but it's as close as is currently manufactured. And this will fit on the stock spare wheel. It might be a tight fit in the spare tire well (storage area) but, as referenced in the other thread I linked above, the measurements should allow for a fit in said storage area.
Again, no need to buy a different wheel nor any sort of adapter.
As for getting it mounted on your factory spare wheel, this is something that any tire shop should be able to do. If no local tire shops are willing to touch a temp use/emergency spare, then you could try reaching out to some dealerships in your area (most of them also mount/balance tires, and should be able to deal with this). If all else fails, Tire Rack might also be able to recommend an installer in your area (I would call and ask them this when placing your order).
Hope this helps.

Okay thanks. I will have to save for it. I guess the swapping talk was because I was looking at used options. And those are inevitably all Nissan Seneca 114 mount I think it was. So frustrating coz Camaros are and have always been so popular. But get one a couple decades old and good luck! I appreciate ya!

If you have the stock spare wheel and can order the 125/70 tire online, then have it shipped to your place and then drop off the wheel and the new tire and just have whatever shop mount and balance it. They don't have to know it's a spare or what it's for. Just tell them you want a tire mounts on a wheel and most places should do that no problem.
