best street tires?
right now ive got michelin xgt-v4's
the suck *****
around 14 months old, the most expensive tires ive ever gotten..
and all theyve done is chipped, cracked and now theres a huge bulge on one of the rear tire walls
what are some other tires around the price range that have good durability...
p.s. the tires also havnt been driven in the winter...
car is driven from may-october, id say we put 10 000 kms a year on it

I had the new high performance coopers ZS(i forget exactly what model they are called) tires on and they were amazing. handled like a **** and launched pretty good. The only bad thing is that they only lasted like 5,000 miles, but thats normal i guess for performance tires.

I've heard the Kumho MX's are a good compromise performance tire that isn't too expensive. They're suppose to last more than ~5k miles also.
The best idea is to search tirerack, and read the reviews on all the tires in your price range. Narrow it down to 2-3 tires then research how people like those tires in your size for your car.

i have some road hugger gt-d 245-50-r16's , cheap-o's. they have a treadwear of 440!! they are extremly soft, i can dump the clutch on 'em and they will only chirp. i got them from discount tire. i was a bit weary of them at first untill my uncle (who bought them for a grad present) told me to go check 'em out. they are very soft and only have such a high treadwear because the treads are soo deep. go by discount and ask if you can see some. im going to run them as long as i have 16" wheels, i dont know if they have them in 17's though

I'd like to know what tire to use too! My car needs new tires (still have factory F1's). Can we get some pics posted with different tires? On factory WS-6 rims please.
Thanks

I have had:
BFG KDW - these ruled in wet/dry warm weather but fast tread wear.
Pirelli PZero Nero - These are great in cooler temps and give you some sign before they lose traction (a chirp or squeal, the KDW were pretty quiet) They also have much better tread life but still give great cornering and hooking.
Both tires have points that are better than the other. Also, I used www.tirerack.com as well to research before purchasing and when I bought the Pirellis (current tire) I was choosing between the BFG KDW and Goodyear GS-D3's and the PZero. I finally decided on the Pirelli and have not regretted it. The Pirelli I picked up for less than the other 2 from Discount Tire.

Get the GS-D3. Best tire I've ever driven on. Basically a slick with grooves cut in it. Nice wet traction and incredible dry traction. Breaking them loose is violent. The grip is crazy.

Granted, they will break lose (big *** stall), but they don't just sit there and spin. They at least get you moving along in a semi-acceptable fashion.

If you're interested, I have 3 285/40/17 GS-D3 tires that have less than 50 miles on them and are in perfect condition. I can post up some pics if you want. As far as price I would like to get $160 + shipping per tire. They retail for about $220.
