Default 315 v/s 275 Nitto DR

Will I really see any benefit from using the 315 Nitto Dr v/s the 275?? I know the 315's are heavier but how much stickier for street/track use (at least until I get some slicks for the track)

I ran the 315's on my 17x9 Firehawk wheels. I never ran any higher than 24-26 lbs pressure cold in them, street and everything. About 18 lbs hot at the track. At the 24-26 lbs I STILL didn't get the full footprint of the tire on the ground due to the narrower than ideal wheel, so who knows if it helped more than if I'd had 275s are not, but they sure looked FAT. Nittos seem to run narrower than other brands so you can get away with a 315 on a 9in wheel easier than with a different brand. I'm sure others will chime in as well.

I went from a Nitto 275 to 315. Best 60' I ever got out of the 275s was a 1.75 or something around there, best with the 315s was 1.60 and track prep was actually not as good as it could have been. On average with good track prep the 315s got me 1.60s to low 1.70s at as low as 12-14psi cold. I did have alittle problems spinning them on the wheels alittle though. At street night when the track is complete ****, I saw no differance between the two so you probrably won't see much differance on the street. If you have a 9" wheel I would try a BFG or M/T 275 first. Just don't want to get caught on the highway in the rain with either of those.

If you put a 315 on a 17x9.5 or 17x9 rim, the very second that you pull out of your drive and get up to speed, you will have catastrophic tire explosion (on both sides) that will cause your car to go into an uncontrollable spin. After the uncontrollable spin, you car will go airborne for approximately 5-600 feet then land on its top. It will no doubt cause all kinds of blood and gore. If you do a search, you will see that this happens on a daily basis on this board and has been occurring for many years now. This is just a warning so you can do as you please, but, YOU WILL DIE IF YOU PUT A 315 ON A 17x9.5 OR 17x9.0 SIZE RIM!

If you have a particular rim in mind that can only be purchased ion 17x9.5 and you want 315's, then go for it. You won't have any problems, regardless of what some of these people say.

I would try to get a 17 by 10-11" rim if you want to run large rubber out back I personally would love to run some nice 315's in the back of my car, but don't have a spare set of rims to be widened yet

If you havn't bought the wheels yet just pick up some 10.5 or 11" wheels if possible and go with a true 315 drag radial like the BFG.

Well I'm leaning toward some Zr1's. Nice simple clean. Just trying to figure out if the larger tires/rims are worth the extra cost/hassle/weight.

Does anyone know where you can send a wheel to have it extended from a 9.5 to a 10-10.5? I am in California
