Default Opinion on Nittos

I am not ready to make the financial leap into a set of new wheels and tires for my ride. I am looking at putting the Nitto 450s on my front wheels and the Nitto drag radials on my back wheels (tire size will be 245/50/16). What are your opinions on these tires?

i run them and like them, you get decent mileage out of the drags, and they hook way better than stock, but not as good as the bfg's or MT. You won't get very many miles out of the bfg's or the MT's so I would say go for the nittos for daily driving.

I have 245 Nittos on my daily driver Mustang. I like them and they hook better then a regular street tire. When they're at full street pressure and not heated up they don't hook amazing though...you have to drop the pressure to get them to really hook.

i have BFGs in 255/60/16 and 555Rs in 315/45/17 and have cut the same short times w/ both. I DD the 315s and they have been on the car in all types of weather and over 10K miles. i should get about 3K more out of them.. pretty damn decent all around tire.

Why do you want 450's up front? Most people do 555's because they look similar to the 555r drag radials and aren't that expensive. Plus, they are Z rated and the 450's are V rated

I didn't know there was a 555 and 555r. So is the tread pattern the same, just a different compound?

555s are a harder compound.

I drove on them daily for like a year, until the m/t's came out and I liked them.
Never had a problem with traction but my car is mostly stock with the
exception of a 3500 stall and exhaust,I ran consistent 8.1's-8.2's at the track and never spun, ran them at about 18psi and like I said drove daily on them.
But if your looking for serious traction go with the m/t's IMO.

If you can drive, the nitto's work pretty well. I've cut 1.90's with a slipping clutch. I'm sure 1.8's are very much possible.

Yeah that's true, I've had a best of 1.74 in VERY cool weather here at Huntsville.
It just depends on weather/track conditions.
