Default BFG KDW v. KDWS

what are the main difference between these 2 tires? Do the KDW hook up better at the track? or are the main differences at higher speeds?
I just need some good tires that will hook up at the drag strip, acceleration and very little wheel spin are my main concerns

Get the BFG KD they are even better...but dont handle well in the rain...if you get stuck in the rain get the KDW if you plan on driving in teh snow get KDWS

I have the kd's and they are amazing. I cut a 1.829 60' on 3/32" of tread. They are manageable in the rain but unbearable in the snow. If snow isn't a concern, definitely go for the kd's.

D = Dry
W = Wet
S = Snow

KD = bad *** street/strip tire
KDW = still a very good street/track tire
KDWS = less aggresive tread design to be used as an all-season tire.

I've had two sets of KDWS and love them. Very grippy tire, good treadwear, very good in the rain. I have only had them in the snow for a few dozen feet(mountain passes) and had no problems. Very nice all around tire with still alot of emphasis on performance.

What price/size are you looking at?

Also, for the price a set of Toyos or Kuhmos may be worth looking into.

there are a lot better alternatives to the KDWS, especially in price.

check out fuzion ZRi tires, awsome tire for a great price!

i used to sell tires for a living, the KDWS isnt what your looking for with this type of car..... if u must drive your car year-round, it would be more effective to get a pair of snow tires for the rear during the winter, but trying to mix a snow tire with a z-rating isnt as good as it makes it out to be, it will be lacking in both aspects. in the end you wont be happy with the results.

if u dont mind me asking how much ur getting them for?
im pretty sure there around $200 per??

I wouldnt worry about getting anything snow rated for elpaso.

Kumho's are fairly cheap and a great tire. I'd suggest those for a cheaper price than the BFG KDWs. I run the KDWs and have got 30k miles out of them with ALOT of tread left on the back... the fronts are wearing b/c the alignment is wacked to hell...
But they are a great tire.

I'd go for the KD or KDW considering your circumstances...you will not be dissapointed in grip, road feel, or tread wear....although truthfully, I'd consider going super aggressive on your 16's and buying some 17's for the future!

that's the only problem. They're $238 per tire for 275/40/17's. I don't see 245/50/16's on tirerack.
