Default Had nitto 555's, What do u recommend?

ive looked through all the threads and the numbers arent makin sense to me so im going to ask. I have the stock ss rims from 98 on there which are the Zr-1's. I looked in a thread that said all stock ws6 rims and ss rims are 9" not 9.5". So im taking for granted that it is 9". I have Kuhmo 275/40z's on there right now and am lookin at dr's for the back. I had nitto 555's on there 2 yrs ago and was happy with those but has anyone had nitto's and somethin else and liked them better? Im open for suggestions on sizes and what brand. I also would like the most life out of the tire. IS there a difference between nitto 555's and the nitto DR?

555's are a street radial, good for street and track use

the DR is meant for straight strip

If you want to be able to actually use first and second gear, get these http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...35&rd=17&ar=40

They should last around 15k miles, thats if you dont do to many tire smoking activities

ill break it down to you like this...

nitto dr's- longest lasting tread life out of any dr tire but they are also the worse as far as traction at the strip. good street tire. avg tread life exp- 12-15k miles

bfg drs- not as good tread life but will out perform the nitto on the track and street. avg tread life- 7-10k miles

mt dr's-probably the shortest tread life but will get you better traction than any other dr on the market right now..street or track hands down. avg tread life- 6-9k miles

basically look at what your gonna use it for and make your decision from there. all the averages are based upon what i personally have gotten alog with some friends of mine aswell. i currently have nittos but will soon be changin to the MT dr. nittos suck on the track, hard sidewall equals no give. hope this helps.

If you drive in the rain do not get the MT DR's. Also, for those of you who are concerned about looks, nitto is the only drag radial that has a matching normal street radial for the fronts.

very good valid points by all i appreciate the input. Still a tough choice tho. I think now i might go with the BFG's just to try them out and see for myself. How much did they run y'all.

i would go with the nittos....i bought mine used, but damn did they perform...they took 3 tenths off my e.t........and as far as driving them in the rain i drove from austin to laredo, tx in a storm going about 70mph and had no problem ...i loved em...now i have the yokohamas evs100's becuase i knew that if i bought new nittos i would always be messing around
