I have kuhmo estca's. They suck *****. Ride like crap(about half worn), and do not hook for ****. I can get the back end to dance around at 60mph when the car downshifts into 2nd. Traction anywhere in 1st, forget about it.
EDIT: They are good for one thing though. Leaving black marks

Don't think anything beats KDs for dry grip, especially when warm. I think my 18/295s are the culprit for my dying diff. They're pontoons in the rain though.

Well, I've gone through the GSC F1's then purchased 2 sets of the GS D-3s.
All I can say in DAMN! What a difference that made. EXCELLENT TIRE!
Well, after the second set I wanted More.
I was running 275/40/17's up Front and 315/35/17's in the Rear.
NO Road Noise! Handled Great (Wet/Dry)
I wanted to fit the Ultimate 335/35/17 under my SS.
So, I purchased the Ultimate set of tires.........
Michelin Pilot Sports
335/35/17--Rear..........$425.00 each
285/40/17--Front.........$385.00 each
Yeah, they're expensive as HELL, BUT Goodyear does NOT make a 335/17.
In comparison to the GS D-3s.
They both have the Rim Guards and Outstanding Tread Pattern.
I find the Michelins are a little noiser than the D-3s,
BUT.......then again it's hard to hear tire noise when the dual cutouts are open.
I wanted the width, and the comfort of doing 125mph in a hairpin turn.
Yes, I've tested it on more than one occassion.
Great Tires Wet and Dry traction.
If Goodyear would come out with a comparable 335 I might think of going back.
No BFH needed. I added a 5/16" shim plate to prevent rubbing when in the corners.
Yes, for those wondering........These are the tires that come on the Dodge Viper/Venom!

Am I the only one to vote for nitto 555. They are great tires in the rain and on the street..and I cut a 2.0 60 ft with 2.73's I don't drive to much in the rain, but when I did I had no problems what so ever..and I gotten about 20000 miles on a set. And on my 96 ta with 3.73 leaving at about 1200 rpm with them warmed up i hook just fine.

I currently or previously have run:
BFG gforce TA/KDs (275/40/17, 315/35/17)
- awesome dry handling, still have good wet traction, so/so straight line grip, but its not made for drag racing. There is no real street tire that is good for drag racing. Used this on many mountain runs and one road race weekend, still have them on my camaro.
Yokohoma AVS Sports (275/40/17, 315/35/17)
- TA/KD felt like it had a bit more handling, but its honestly a good tire and not too expensive. Worked well in the rain too. Used these on a few runs through the twisties, but before I got the ***** to actually drive the car hard. Had these on the camaro.
Michellin Pilot Sport PS/2s (275/35/18, 315/30/18)
- By far the best handling tire I've ever run on the street. Very very fun, never really driven them in the rain, lots of road noise. Probably the best tire I've run, but at $420/pop for the rears I'm trying to not have to replace them soon. Run them on the vette.
Kuhmo Ecstas (stock vette sizes)
- Biggest piece of crap ever. They came with the vette on the rear, and couldn't hold a turn for crap. Active handling was always engaging cause the rear wanted to go sideways in high speed turns.
Goodyear RSAs (stock camaro)
- I actually cut 2.0 60's with these at Carlsbad Raceway, which really sucked for street tires. I was impressed.
Mickey Thompson ET Streets
- I drove these around on the street a few times... that was fun![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)
stock Vette Goodyears
- had these on the front of the vette, I pushed the nose in a few turns. Not too good, but I think a lot of that was because a 245 doesn't have a lot of contact patch.
So I think the Michellin Pilot Sport PS2s are the best out there. Just my opinion.

I really want to get BFG g-force KDWs but they dont make one to fit the stock rims.
The tire size (if you dont know) for stock is 235/55r16.
Of course Id rather have wider tires..but i cant afford new rims right now. Is there a suggestion on the best performance tires for the stock size?

okay...well MY tires are 235 55 16
not 245. I guess the guy before me didn't get the option.
235/55R16 -- basically I dont have money to buy some nice new wider rims.
Either suggestions on performance tires with the same stock size.
or a place to find rims cheap..that I can wrap with BFG g-force KDWs
thanks guys.
