Tell him to get ready to love and hate them at the same time if it's his daily.
I love the way mine look (when clean). They get dirty quick. The design of the wheel has a pretty big flaw if you ask me. If you look inside you will see that the rim has a tunnel like this --__-- between the face and back that holds water. Water will pool in that area. The worst thing about that is when it's raining the water gets stuck in the tunnel and throws the ballance off the wheel and shakes pretty bad.

Good thing my car doesnt see rain.

They do get dirty quite easy, just today I drove through some construction and ran over some fresh asphalt, I was pissed! Some of it stuck to my wheels and it took a while to come off, but luckily it didnt stick!

might be something with all boyds. My smoothie 2s were the same way. I hated that, had to sponge it out everytime I washed the car unless i wanted water spots thrown all over the wheels.

I totally wanted those wheels, but glad I realized there is hardly any lip on the wheel. IMO lip is what gives cars there aggressive look. Other wise good luck, they look good on your car. Imma wait on Fikse, Iforged or the CCW. Sumday lol.........

They DO have a lip if you order the correct widths and offsets. The ones in those pics look like 17x8 wheels or something. Here are my 18x10 rears and 18x9 fronts, they have plenty of lip:

Guys, that ridge is on the backside because these wheels (and all wheels with 'soft lip' style hoops) are also known as "reverse drop" wheels and that channel is necessary to mount a tire. The old school stepped lips have the channel in the front instead, but you end up with a stepped outer lip. Just about every high quality wheel has the channel in the back. iForged, HRE, Intro, Budnik, DPE, etc....

Yes, they don't "drain" water well, but they sure look better without stepped lips.

looks alot like my old ride (RIP) 17x10, with 275 in front and 315's in the back... they didnt offer a 17x9 when i bought mine though.

edit: oh btw, use zoopseal, they like to hold water and spot up...

The lip makes them look 10x better. This is one of the wheels I am considering.

On the original poster's pic, they look like polished aluminum instead of chrome. The chrome ones look much better.

They are polished aluminum. Here's a pic of them on my car. I love them, other than the fact that I daily drive my car. They get absolutely filthy.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought I had logged out.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I had never had any really good pics of my car so BAIN spent 12 hours cleaning it and taking pics for me.

They are 17x8 front and 17x10 rear. Tires are 245/45/17 in the front and 275/40/17 in the rear. We're toying with the idea of sending them off to get widened to 17x9.5 and 17x11/11.5 to make it look a little more stout.
