This is the absolute widest tire you should put on the stock wheels! Although some have tried the road race Kumhos or Hoosiers in 265/45 16, but it usually handled worse as it was not enough rim to support the tire's width.

I wouldnt go wider than a 255 personally. I Tried a 275 on my last set of wheels, and it was a big mistake.

*note to self...Wider is Not always better!!*

255s look bad *** on a 8" rim

i had some ultra z 255/50/16s on gta rims on my 89 in the back and they look great and had great traction

im running MT ET street radials 255/50/16 and i have no problems

now running a 275 on a 15x8 is not bad because you have extra sidewall to work with and the 275/60/15 mts are mesured on a 8" rim...must be on then hahaha

I wouldnt go above a 255 tire. They do look good on 8" wheels for sure.

they dont really make a good 256/45/16

255/50/16s are 26.1 inchs tall(+ or - for different makers)
245/50/16s are like 25.6 inchs tall

a 265/45/16 would be 25.4 inchs tall and would be nice but they dont really make that size

khumo make 3 tires but they are comp tires

What he said. The Kumhos & Hoosiers made in that size are autocross/roadrace ONLY tires, that would last maybe 2000 miles max on the street, and that's babying them!!
