Default What you should know about Nitto 555R 315...

I know some ppl know this. Im bored out of my mind out here in kuwait and decided to do some home work. I looked at tire specs on tirerack.com 275's 285's and 315's. Anyway.
275 averages 11 in Sec width.
285 averages 11.5 in Sec width. The widest being 11.7 really close to Nitto 315
Thats must mean that a 295 is 12 sec wid
So then come the 315's averaging in 12.5 sec width. Does this mean the Nitto is really like a 298?? Am I wrong? Can I get some feedback?

I think they did it on purpose. They would sell more tires that way. Since most of us dont got 11in wide rims.

Nitto measures their tire width differently than other companies. You can measure the actual tread width, or you can measure the entire tire width. You are right though, Nitto 315's are really like a 285-295 in most other brands from what I've seen.

Yes , the Nittos are a little more narrow.

Correct me if I am wrong but I could have sworn that Nittos although being Japanese are actually made here in Georgia. I could have sworn that I read somewhere that they have a plant in Georgia

That's great , I bet it took a while for everything to sound just right.

I was actually looking at some of the 315 Nitto's but I've been hearing people say that they are smaller so I don't know. I'm looking at some 10" rims and couldn't find much in a 295 so these might actually fit pretty well.

My old nitto 315's that I ran on the camaro were definitely not as wide as other 315 tires. I had some 275's before and they also ran very small. Nitto changed something on the current 335/18's Im running now because they are every bit as wide as the Pilot Sports 335s I had before...
